I am trying to set up a calorie deficit but every time I do it reverts back to a number of calories. I have restarted my Fitbit, deleted and reinstalled app multiple times, offloaded data. I am
clicking on my profile in the app and going to food goal under nutrition and weight, setting a calorie deficit and confirming my choice. It will show goal as calorie deficit but as soon as I leave that screen it reverts back to a daily calorie goal. I also don’t have the ability to set a goal weight, only body fat goal. My phone is running most recent iOS so I think it may be an app problem.

What would you all recommend as a replacement. Specifically a fitness

I've loved my Fitbit but I don't believe Fitbit is being well managed on behalf of its customers any more and this latest casual breakage of a key feature and then blanking hundreds - thousands - of deeply concerned users is a very poor look from Google. My best option would be to see Fitbit strengthened, fixed and invested in but I think I'm going to have to face reality and start working on an alternative. So I'm watching this with interest!

Thanks for sharing. I hope it’s true and I wish I could believe they are actually working on it but am not convinced. It’s been too long with no official acknowledgement. I hope I’m wrong though!

My hypothesis:
At this point it’s pretty clear that they intentionally eliminated the feature hoping no one would notice. Now they’re scrambling to put it back in the software code after the uproar, which requires a rigorous process hence the extended delay. Ever since Google bought Fitbit it’s been one thing after another. May be time to move on..

Do we think this has something to do with the change as I keep getting told to move? Come on Fitbit support HELP US ALL !!!!!!

Exactly! The literal reason a lot of us have fitbit is solely for the deficit against activity tracker. No other device does this.

Maybe no other device has that function, but other apps do, and there are apps that sync with the fitbit app (until that goes away too). Ask your favorite AI agent for some suggestions with the features you want that sync with fitbit. Hopefully they get the Fitbit app fixed and they stop this nonsense so we can all just stick with the app we already have and prefer.

I just finished a chat session with Fitbit support. They did confirm they are aware of the issue and an official fix is coming out, as well as a statement. I reiterated multiple times that the lack of transparency and information from official support channels were lacking, to say the least. Support had the following to say:

This is really helpful; thank you so much. At least there's an expression of intent for resolve it! (I still don't see why they can't roll back to 2 versions ago and then work on the app at their leisure in the background.) Thanks!

I found a temp work around. Seems as though when I go through settings/ nutrition & weight/Food/help me set a goal and choose my calorie deficit (-500 cal in/day) then advance trough the screens until done when I return to the app it will hold my proper adjusted calories left for the day long enough for me to get a read on where I'm at in my day. A complete pain in the a## but for now it seems to get me the info I need until the fix is in.

This method just started working for me in the last two days. Prior to that it would not hold long enough to catch the number. might be worth another try ??

I opened up a case today with Fitbit and was chatting with an associate & they said it’s a known problem which Google are working tirelessly (lol) to fix! I said when anticipated to be resolved and basically they don’t know.

I actually noticed that my Renpho scales syncd once and then that was it
I didn’t even know it could do that, would be great if it worked, save me remembering to update

Thanks for the reminder, I could not sync my Renpho this morning either! And mine synced exactly once since the problems started. That's one features I really hope they aren't taking out, because its another one that's a big deal to me.
