Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.
If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:
We appreciate the additional details.
Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.
Update 7/15/2018:
Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.
Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.
Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.
While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.
Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.
Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

Yes me too - its so annoying. I even deleted the app and re-downloaded it logged in again and went through all that for nothing - it still won't log food and whatever i put in it insists that the only ting i have eaten today is a chocolate snack bar called "picnic" this is no picnic I tell you. Sort it out FitBit!

Fitbit.com didn’t help me. I am still having problems logging food, as are many others. When can we expect a fix?

I’m having the same issue since the update yesterday. Log food and it disappears or sometimes it will log as something different then what I clicked. For instance I put in my usual breakfast, eggs and it changed it to kosher pickles lmao hen deletes it.
Food logging has gone haywire. Hope it gets resolved soon. I rely on that a lot as a huge part of my day been logging for 2 years never had these issues till I upgraded to the versa

Yeah not to happy about the versa unfortunately. I got it the first day it came out and not even a month later I was out back gardening and it kept buzzing like I had notifications I go inside to check and the screen was all lines and it never turned back on. Got sent a new one no issues with it but I’m always scared I don’t wear it gardening and I baby it. It sucks. My Alta took a **ahem** kicking and still works very durable. But I still continue to have iOS issues which is very frustrating. Every update it’s something. I’d say in the last two months I’ve barely logged any food because it’s so annoying to do so..

As others report, can't log food items on IOS since 7/12/18 update to Fitbit app. I am able to log on laptop Windows 10 Firefox at fitbit.com.
Shame that such a glaring bug was missed in QA of app continuous delivery. Hopefully you guys will roll back or fix ASAP.

Any update on the resolution of the food logging issue?

I am experiencing the same issue, however this food logging issue is only occurring on the iOS app for iPhone - it seems (I have iPhone 6s & 4S using same account). No other function on the phones appears to be malfunctioning. My iPad is not suffering this glitch; I can log foods correctly on it & these entries will then synchronise with the iPhones. Everything is running latest software. Hope this helps in some way & the problem can be solved soon.
Regards

I am on an iPad and the problem occurs there on the app. I am having to log in through Fitbit.com to log my food entries, and at least it is holding the information.

An update on when there might be a solution would be good, as logging food thro a webpage is painfully slow
