Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.
If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:
We appreciate the additional details.
Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.
Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.
Update 7/15/2018:
Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.
Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.
Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.
While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.
Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.
Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

As with other people, the food logging on my app has gone haywire since I downloaded the latest update. Given the number of people affected (all those on the IOS version of the app?), I cant help wondering how much testing went on before it was released.
Come on Fitbit. This isnt good enough. Whilst the suggestion to use fitbit.com website as an alternative is just about plausable in the short term the logging function on there is barely fit for purpose.

I’m going to bring my Fitbit Versa Watch back to Best Buy, because of false advertisement. It’s been 48 hours of secrecy and that we are aware of the problem. So happy I didn’t buy stock in this company. Fitbit for kids, Fitbit for dogs and you cannot ever get one update right. Fired the incompetence and get tech support people in who knows what they’re doing, or at least revert back before last update. All this because you were trying to sinc up with Fitbit music and coaching to make more money for your company. Reading through this forum for the last 48 hours, I can see you losing much more than money, as your reputation is on a thin line. I would never recommend this product and the one I bought my husband for Father’s Day is also getting returned.

Same issue. Ever since I installed update yesterday. Food disappears. Sometimes logs the wrong food then disappears anyway

Logged food through Fitbit.com as recommended & it’s not showing up in app as previously told it would.

Just wondering why you are not putting back to the old version until you get a fix. This is taking way to long. Wasn’t it tested before putting it out there.

This is beyond ridiculous. This is day 3 & the problem has only gotten worse. Yesterday I was able to log food from the website (although it’s a major pain to do so) & it showed on the app. Now even that’s not working. They need to get this problem fixed ASAP. The customer service from this company has been getting worse & worse in the last few years. So disappointed. Looks like they will be getting my Versa back. I’ve heard really great things about the Apple Watch & at least you can count on their tech support.

I am now getting very concerned. In addition to the food logging problems (which for my are in German) My leaderboard is not updating correctly and my floors are not being recorded. Has there been a cyber attack?

I would look elsewhere. I've had multiple issues with their app going back a couple years, and it seems to happen every time they have a new release. I would fire their entire app development team, because they don't seem to care about beta testing these things. I'm definitely done with them. This was the last straw. There's a reason their holiday sales sucked--people are waking up to their incompetence.

My food target has not been working for 3days started on 11/07/2018, in this day and age surely it should have been fixed by now

@Jparishmn I agree. I just bought an Ionic for me and for my wife a versa. I use it on an iphone she on android.
Since noon CET time nothing syncs anymore for her to the app. And I have to enter my food on the computer....Just bought 5 days ago...
This is the worst experience with a new product I ever had. I'm checking out competitors right now. I have 30 days to return those 2 watches.

I am continuing to have this issue, as of yesterday the food function is
totally useless. I keep an accurate database of everything that goes into
my body, today I have reverted to hand logging. Hopefully FitBit will
respond to this issue and get it resolved. This started after an update
and the "cleaning up things" message. Everything else seems to be working
so far.

This appears to be a problem with almost all users since the update, see posts on other threads with the same complaints. Hoping FitBit soon responds to this issue and gets it resolved.

Totally agree - I told them that food entered at fitbit.com did not sync with my phone app 2 days ago but they seem to ignore this and keep advising people to waste their time entering data on computer or laptop at fitbit.com. Also told me that it was not possible to rollback software to previous version while they “fix” and test the new version. Again this is a lie - there are numerous YouTube videos showing how easy this can be done. Seems that Fitbit have a deathwish and want to drive people to find alternatives such as the Apple Watch.
