Update 7/19/2018: This issue is now resolved, please ensure your app is updated if you still experiencing this issue. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked on a fix. I'll be closing this for further reports. If you are experiencing any new issues with food logging, please start a new thread.

Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.

If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:

      • Are you already updated to 2.53.1?
      • What is the OS version that you are running on your iPhone?
      • What food database are you using?(See Account>Advanced Settings>Food Database).
      • What language are you using the app in?
      • What foods are you trying to log?
      • What specific interaction are you doing that is not working? (Adding, editing, deleting, scanning).
      • What time/date did you see the issue?

We appreciate the additional details.

Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.

Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.

Update 7/15/2018:

Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.

Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.

Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.

While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.

Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.

Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

How is this still an issue. I do try to log my food over the dashboard but I seems to not want me to have 1/2 or 1/4 cups of anything it always goes back to 1 cup. 1 cup of trails mix is about 500 calories where that's why I eat 1/4 cup it's about 130. We all have been waiting to get this fixed and it is very frustrating. Can we please get this fixed how is it that on the app my milk 1/2 cup turns into a chicken sandwich. I am very happy with the fitbit and all its things but this is not cool. Sorry if I'm being very like this but the fitbit and the app have been my reliable sorce of tracking everything. Can we get this fixed????? Oh any suggestions on how to log 1/2 cups or 1/4 cup on the dashboard? Thank you

I was having trouble, and now my fitbit app is saying no internet connection at all, even though my ipad is on the internet. Many problems after the update yesterday. I wish I had not updated the app.

A direct question for Kate.

What is your exact position within Fitbit? Are you simply a moderator of this forum and "loosely" summarizing the negative commentary we are expressing?

Not implying being only a moderator of this forum is a negative, but the executives of Fitbit need to be made fully aware of how close they are to loosing their customer base

Please provide some direct feedback as to the what steps are being taken, and what the urgency of repair is. For example...even though it is Saturday, is the app development team working or did they take the weekend off?

Is this resolved yet,  so frustrating for a new user?

Only hot my Fitbit charge yesterday.

I suspect it’s not resolved because it’s a weekend and nobody’s in! Lamentable lack of communication and support from Fitbit again.

I just entered my Breakfast this am and it did so with no errors, I will keep checking it though. I had not been able to before , it was entering wrong items or not at all.  iPhone 7

4:44pm I was  entering my afternoon snack for yogurt vanilla, which it got correct, but for grapes when I put it in it entered “Flavored pops”. , so it’s hitting and missing some

Has this problem been resolved as my app still isn’t working when logging food. It shows up and disappears seconds after.

It is utterly ridiculous that we're still having the food logging issue. Getting close to buying an apple watch.

No, I thought mine started working, my daughters also appeared to be
working, two hours later they were NOT working. Suppose it was just a
fluke. Not sure why FitBit has been unresponsive other than "we're working
on it". I depend on the food function to maintain my health as a senior
older guy on a restricted diet. The web page DOES work for logging but is
a bit cumbersome when I'm not near my desktop.

This is a Terrible inconvenience, and has gone on too long

Any idea how much longer it’s going to be until you fix the problem? So frustrating, i’ve input my food via Fitbit.com as advised but only half of it is syncing across to my app!

Has the reminder to move notifications just stopped working for anyone else? I haven't gotten a single one all day and I should have gotten at least two.

This is the fourth day of a major function of the app being broken, and now this? It doesn't help that Fitbit refuses to give us any information about the whole ordeal. The company's relative silence doesn't bode well.

This is very frustrating.  Heading back to Myfitness Pal. At least that works. You ever regression test your software? Apparently not.

When is the food log for calories going to be fixed on day 2 of this not working!  Ever since this latest update!  Food / Calories will not log in,

Aware of that, but way too slow for me! It’s been 3 days since the update and information on a fix is unacceptable! They need a better IT department, they should have had a PATCH or rolled back the update till they figured what they did to screw this application up! Bad IT team and Bad PR for Fitbit! No updates since yesterday makes me wonder! The way they want you to log food items is very cumbersome and takes way to long! FIX IT NOW Fitbit!
