Update 7/19/2018: This issue is now resolved, please ensure your app is updated if you still experiencing this issue. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked on a fix. I'll be closing this for further reports. If you are experiencing any new issues with food logging, please start a new thread.

Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.

If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:

      • Are you already updated to 2.53.1?
      • What is the OS version that you are running on your iPhone?
      • What food database are you using?(See Account>Advanced Settings>Food Database).
      • What language are you using the app in?
      • What foods are you trying to log?
      • What specific interaction are you doing that is not working? (Adding, editing, deleting, scanning).
      • What time/date did you see the issue?

We appreciate the additional details.

Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.

Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.

Update 7/15/2018:

Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.

Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.

Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.

While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.

Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.

Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

On top of not loading food values, not counting stairs correctly this great update is using extra data and running my battery down. My brand new iPhone red 8+ not needs to be charged every 6-8 hours.   Apple Watch is looking better & better.

At this time whatever I log on my laptop is showing up on my iPhone.  Granted, it is a little inconvenient, but not the worst thing that is happening in the universe.  As a preemptive strike against a possible hack in the update, I suggest changing your password.  I don't know what to do if there is a virus in the update. Perhaps someone with more tech savvy than I can help with that!  Happy training, everyone!

It’s there a way to push a notification when this is fixed. In the meantime spark people has a nice interface that works with Fitbit. I’m still hoping it gets fixes as I prefer to just use a single app

Just went on app store to write review with 1 star (can't give it zero). Maybe if we all did?

Wow, I realize it's being worked on but how long is this going to take?  Fitbit may want to look in to getting some better computer programmers in the company as the current ones are struggling.

I too prefer to use Fitbit bc I’ve gotten used to its very simple and well constructed software but if I get another week of “we’re looking into it” I’m going to move on.
The only way to input my calorie intake is turning on my desktop and doing it there...not the most convenient especially since doing it on my iPhone is quick, clear and precise.
And if my information has been hacked then for sure I’m gone. I’m tired of being treated like a pawn to make money by others and risking a huge financial problem.
Fitbit get on it, fix it now and do a better job of communicating what’s going on!

hmm - I don’t see MyFitnessPal food appearing in Fitbit dashbard? I wonder if related?

Reading the Fitbit help on MyFitnessPal connecting to Fitbit I should at least see food summary but no.  I can pull all my data from Fitbit into MyFitnessPal fine.

I’ve just given a negative review on the APP. About to do the same on Amazon

Here we are 4/5 days on and STILL not fixed!’

So the developers chose not to roll back the update and want to fix (I take this as FitBit CANT’T roll back).

This impacts the iPhone users who are the LAST people they want to give bad service such as this too. Fitbit.... do you realise you are pushing the iPhone users towards Apple watch’s as we already have a foot in the Apple eco system!!! 5 days!!!?? Really???????

Come on KateFitbit, we're all waiting anxiously for your useless daily "updates" that give no timelines, no specifics, no reasons as to what happened, and just say you all know it's a major issue. Takes a stroke of genius to figure out the last part.

There really isn’t any use. Do we really believe ‘the team’ are working on a Sunday? I’ve just given a negative review on Amazon too. #fitbitfail

It's taking so long to fix because Fitbit is having the same incompetent waste engineers who  caused the problem are now trying to fix the problem that they caused.  It's such a joke.

Hello @Jim58tr

What does this pertain too?.

I've been on this site since 2015 and never had any iOS software problems.

And if I had a software problem, are you  saying they have to fix it at a drop of a hat.

What are you experiencing problems with.
