Update 7/19/2018: This issue is now resolved, please ensure your app is updated if you still experiencing this issue. We appreciate everyone's patience and cooperation as we worked on a fix. I'll be closing this for further reports. If you are experiencing any new issues with food logging, please start a new thread.

Update 7/18/2018: Thanks again everyone for your reports. Glad to hear the update has corrected food logging issues for many.

If you are still experiencing this issue, we would love to investigate further. The following would help our team review:

      • Are you already updated to 2.53.1?
      • What is the OS version that you are running on your iPhone?
      • What food database are you using?(See Account>Advanced Settings>Food Database).
      • What language are you using the app in?
      • What foods are you trying to log?
      • What specific interaction are you doing that is not working? (Adding, editing, deleting, scanning).
      • What time/date did you see the issue?

We appreciate the additional details.

Fitbit Update 07/16/2018: Hey everyone -- We have just released an update to the Fitbit app for iOS, version 2.53.1 which we believe resolves the issues with food logging that have been reported in this thread. Please update to 2.53.1 and let me know of the results so I can quickly communicate that to our iOS team.

Again, thank you for your continued patience as we worked to get this resolved ASAP.

Update 7/15/2018:

Thanks everyone for your patience on this. We sincerely apologize to anyone who has been affected by this issue and have been working hard to find a fix. We are preparing to roll out an update tomorrow, July 16th to solve the problem. In the meantime, customers can use the food logging feature in the web dashboard: https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log.

Update 7/14/2018: We do realize this is a critical issue and our team continues to work on the cause and a fix. We don't provide timelines, in case something occurs and it can't be met, but we hope to have a resolution soon. Thank you again for your patience, reports, and cooperation.

Update 7/13/2018: Hi Everyone - we definitely do hear your reports and frustration on missing and strange food logs. Our engineers are still investigating and I hope to have a resolution shortly.

While not ideal, you can log on Fitbit.com food log and it will populate on iOS correctly once you sync. You can log it here. We appreciate your cooperation. I'll continue to update this thread as I hear more.

Update 7/12/2018: Hi Everyone - thanks again for your reports. We are actively reviewing this issue and I'll continue to update the thread as I hear further. As a workaround you may want to log your food through https://www.fitbit.com/foods/log. As mentioned in @sreid64's post, it will populate the iOS app correctly. Thanks again for your patience and reports.

Update 7/11/2018: Hi Everyone - I've merged a few posts together. We are currently investigating issues with food logging on iOS version 2.53. Please continue to monitor this thread for updates. If this is severely affecting your food logging, you may want to log through Fitbit.com. Thank you very much for your reports and patience as we review.

@bradtke329 - thanks to you too! And keep fighting (for yourself, not Fitbit). I know some days that is much easier said than done. I know our worlds get small, and some days it feels like all you worry about is appointments and refills - and I don’t even enjoy thinking about myself! But not everyone can do or does what you do. You are a warrior, and some days just getting out of bed makes you a warrior!

I try and remember the line from the great Leonard Cohen - “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” We May be more cracked than others, but maybe we see a bit more from that extra light?!

No, I’m not always this positive. I have really cad days when it seems unfair and I don’t want to deal with all of it. And I think it is only natural to have those thoughts and frustrations. Somehow it is easier to make others feel better than ourselves.

Truly, best of luck with the Fitbit bug getting fixed and having that one less thing to stress about. But mostly, good luck with your health and its challenges. Know you are not alone. We tend not to talk about the chronic and:or invisible illnesses as a society, but literally millions of Americans suffer through them to. At the same time, each of our battles are also uniquely are own, but we are all fellow warriors for the fights we undertake - ones that we used to and most people take for granted. Just for that, you are amazing!

My phone App is behaving weird too. Especially the food additions. Put in one thing and it shows another. Delete, try again and it starts deleting other items of food that I have logged for that meal (lunch/dinner etc). Tried deleting the app on my phone. Switching the I phone on and off, doesn't fix the issue.

I must have a different version on the lap top as I have no issues adding food on this device.

Please resolve the issue for us as I use the app all the time recording food etc as part of my day.

Kind regards,

This is happening to mine too. It was working fine until Wednesday this week. Now whatever I enters disappears or it logs one thing in French that I’ve never selected!! Really annoying.

Do your engineers even test before releasing to App Store. This is basic functionality, which is broken and there is fix for last 4 days. How can this be even possible? I hope you know how painful it is to log food on Fitbit.com, which is not optimized for mobile at all. Overall very poor engineering and support system. Question to community are there other alternatives.

As a temporary solution we can log food via fitbit.com

Hi, everyone.  Just wanted to let the dev team know that this is happening also with the France food database.  I am sure that you have already confirmed this, but sending through just in case. food logging incident behavior is same with US or France food databases. Best, valerie

When I finally got it to accept a log - White wine comes up as paella and a bag of ringos is shortcake apparently! Gave up after that.

If it’s not a hack, then why is it taking so long to fix? Your reputation is plummeting and no one seems to care! How embarrassing that Fitbit can’t fix their own app...

Hi

i have had this problem  of not being able to calorie count on the app since Wednesday last week. I have an iPhone.  It is really frustrating!!!

My Fitbit was purchased to count in and out calories and logging all my exercise classes.

When logging food it will sometimes show in German with no calorie content!

When  logging foods the app will change the item to a completely different item!

When logging food the item will just disappear but will still show on front screen but then will disappear!

On the app my heart rate is not being monitored!

My blue tooth connection keeps dropping off!

I can Not get messages through the app re achievements. It states I am not paired and then when I try to pair will not  allow.

Fitbit please sort all these problems I was told last week it would be sorted by Saturday now I am being told to ring on Monday.

At the moment Fitbit you are falling short on other products within the market.

There should be a team working on this 24/7 and it should have been resolved by now. I’m allready looking at another app. Totally unacceptable at 4 days now.

Don’t get any sense of urgency here.  This is now down for 4 days.

Rather disappointed with time this is taking
