We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I’ve had the same issue since updating to iOS 13 and the Fitbit firmware. It’s so frustrating!

I literally just received my New Ionic tonight. Text notifications are critical to me. I will ship it back tomorrow. $250 and doesn’t work as advertised. Sorry, but waiting for supposed fix is not acceptable.

So me and my daughter both have the versa. Mine didn’t act up but my daughter’s did. I did everything support said to do and the ONLY thing that needed changed (everything else was already on the correct setting) was in phone settings, notifications, messages...the show previews was set on never. I changed it to always, which I’m sure the default will work also, and the notifications are now working!! Hope this helps others because my daughter was lost all day not having her notifications on her fitbit!!!

That sounds like a sync problem, did you try removing device and set up again? Hers had steps, sleep and all others except her notifications stopped working. Maybe even repairing to your iPhone bluetooth.

Same here. I receive call and calendar notifications but not my text messages. So frustrating. I did a live chat and they couldn't fix

13.1 doesn’t work either! And yes I’m extremely frustrated! It’s imperative I get texts on my watch as I am a licensed professional counselor and patients text all the time. I cannot pick up my phone in a session to look😞I will also be giving up my 5 year run with Fitbit if this can’t be fixed

I have a different problem...being notified that my battery is low when it’s at 95% and after charging it overnight. What is going on???

Same here! I am sick of trying to fix. I've spent hours and hours doing everything they say to do, but my fitbit is now completely useless. Nothing will work because it keeps losing connectivity and won't pair with bluetooth. I'm beginning to think I've been sucked into buying an overpriced watch that does nothing but tell time. I hope this can be fixed!

I updated to iOS 13.1 and *everything* broke! Went through the usual troubleshooting, then followed the above link and now I have text messages and emails again, which are the most important alerts I want.

After the update I seem to be receiving the odd notification on my charge 2 but the annoying thing I'm experiencing is when i receive a phone call. It displays a previous callers ID so when i dash to get my phone to answer its not who I'm  expecting ! Any updates on how to rectify the issues yet please?

So, what FitBit compatibility faults did this generate 'even fix' for you?!

Bug fixes: You may have noticed that iOS 13 is a bit buggy. The iOS 13.1 release cleans up a lot of its problems.

Is the update you just did an update to iOS 13? I ask as there is a bug with that version that's causing notification problems. If you are on iOS 13 then keep an eye on the following tread where fitbit are posting updates and recommendations:

my Iphone has been updated to ios 13.1

since that i can not open my fitbit app and I also get no bluetooth connection to my Ionic.

I shut down the Ionic and started it again as proposed. But this changed nothing!

In terms of the two reasons above I can't syncronize the Ionic and have the wrong time and of course I miss the app on my Iphone.

My replacement Fitbit charge 2 will not Linc to my I phone at all but it will Linc with my I pad, how do I resolve this? I have deleted and re loaded the Fitbit app and switched both the Bluetooth & phone off and on to no avail! Any recommendations?
