We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I have tried every single one of these steps and my Fitbit still doesn’t send me text notifications... it’ll send me notifications from everything else except text messages. Yes I have the notifications on, yes I have the banners on... I even uninstalled and reinstalled the app, I even did a factory reset on my Fitbit and it still doesn’t work! 😭😭😭 Please fix it!

There's an ongoing bug with notifications under iOS 13 that fitbit are working on. Keep an eye on the following thread where fitbit are posting updates and recommendations:

I updated all my settings to show preview (fb messenger, what’s app etc) and now getting notifications.
Never had to have this before & would absolutely prefer not to have to have this setting on as my phone is regularly on my desk & I don’t want people being able to see my messages.
Is this setting a permanent feature to have on now or is it being changed back to not having to have a preview on my phone.

I have tried all of the steps to get my text notifications back on my Versa with no luck. What is the next step? Will there be an update soon?

Hello @CleMJ
Welcome. I hope I can help you. These steps seem to work for a lot of individuals (but not everyone.....not sure why that is. Maybe different iOS devices) But its worth a shot to see if they will indeed help you. Do understand that if these steps do not work Fitbit is fully aware of the issue and hopefully will apply a fix soon in a future update.
Please go to and adjust your settings:
First open your Fitbit app
Tap your profile picture in upper left
scroll down to the name of your Fitbit and tap it (It’s located just under “My Family”
scroll down and tap notifications
enable the notifications you want in green
now simply tap “today” at the bottom of your screen to get back to the main page
Now lets make sure your iOS device is set up correctly:
go to:
device settings>location services >Fitbit>Always on
also Go to:
device setting>Fitbit>Location>Always on
also go to:
device settings >notifications >messages>Select always under show previews
Now Go to your Bluetooth:
- Tap the "i" icon next to the name of your Fitbit device
- Turn on the Share System Notifications.
😃 Please let me know if my suggestions gave you the answers you are looking for.

Same here. I am actually getting all notifications now but I still can't sync which is baffling to me. It is not letting me connect to Blue Tooth but someone I am getting text and call notifications - I will take any progerss at this point since it's been 9 days since my Versa actually worked the way it was supposed to. Also still losing time and we are now at 59 minutes slow

This has happened to me before. I just got a new iPhone 11 and it happened again. I tried all other suggestions in the past but the only thing that works for me...and I did it again and it works. You have to forget the device on the app and set it up again. You have to forget the device on Bluetooth and set it up again. It takes less than 5 minutes and it starts... if you sync your app first you won’t lose any previous data. Just a suggestion for those still having problems!

- My iPhone 7 did an update on Sunday to the new software 13.1.2 and since then I have not been able to receive text messages on my Fitbit. I have gone through all of the troubleshooting tips provided but nothing works. I called Fitbit twice and they also were not able to help me, they said it has to do something with apple and that they were working on getting to an agreement with them to come up with an update for the Fitbit. However, nothing has happen yet. Is anybody else going through this? Has anybody found a solution to this problem? I feel very frustrated with this problem. Please let me know if anybody can help. I was really happy with my Fitbit until this happened.

I got mine to work with the messages displayed but not happy with this. Will fitbit be working on a fix for that? If not I will be going to the Apple watch. My privacy is more important than my love for fitbit. It worked on private before.
