We are aware of an issue preventing some users from receiving notifications on their iPhone after updating to iOS 13. If you're having trouble receiving notifications and you updated your iPhone or iPad to iOS 13, follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below:
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and watch this thread for new information. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience while our team works to address this.

I got it to work by going into the settings of the iphone-notifications-messages-show previews(select always). However, the messages show on the phone screen. I’m not too happy about that but at least I’m able to receive them on my watch. I’m hopping this issue gets resolved soon.

Hello @RAV3
Welcome! I see you too are having notification issues. Maybe this will help. You mentioned the “I” missing on the Bluetooth so you can’t tap the “Share System Notifications”. Relook at these instructions and pay special attention to #4
- Update the Fitbit app on your iPhone or iPad.
- Tap the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad > Bluetooth.
- Tap the "i" icon next to the name of your Fitbit device.
- Turn on Share System Notifications. If you don't see the System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Now Tap the "i" icon next to the name of your Fitbit device
- Turn on the Share System Notifications.
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- For Phone and Calendar, make sure Allow Notifications and Notification Center are on.
- For Messages, make sure Allow Notifications is on, Lock Screen, Notification Center, and Banners are on.
- For Messages, make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
😉 let me know if this does the trick

I too am still not getting text notifications on my Fitbit Ionic. The product description clearly states that text notifications are a feature. I'm returning this if the product isn't fixed VERY quickly.

I can confirm that this works. I removed my Ionic in the app. Removed it from my bluetooth devices. I added the ionic to my app, went through the settup. And all is working again. Thanks for the tip !
I just repeated above actions for my wife's charge 3. And messages are working again.

I have done all of these steps numerous times and still do not receive text messages to my Charge 2. I only receive my updates to walk and my phone call alerts. This is very irritating and needs to be fixed. I cannot believe that in the almost 2 weeks since the new update has come out that you as a parent company have not come up with a solution for this. Fitbit needs to get working and solve this problem.

I have done all the steps numerous times. Too much!! After the update to 13.1.2 i thought it was fixed but it only lasted a day. Please help! I’ve been with Fitbit since 2011 but have now been looking at other devices, very sad Fitbit!

According to Fitbit “technical” support, this is a known issue. What’s HIGHLY concerning, however, is that they don’t have a timeline for the fix. Considering that part of why I transitioned to wearable technology was the ease of receiving notifications on a watch, this is really frustrating to me. (Especially after explaining all of this to customer service and having the gentleman explain to me how to turn fitbit notifications on my iPhone — after I clarified twice that I needed the notifications on my watch, not my phone...)

I have tried everything. Deleted the app, reinstalled it, reconnecting, restarting my Versa. I'm beyond frustrated that nothing is working. I get everything except texts. My Versa is barely a year old and I've never had any problems with it.
