I tried all of the suggestions that were given to sync my Alta HR to my iPhone after the last updates to both of these. I had success when I went to Settings >Fitbit > Bluetooth (turn it on). Who knew that you had to turn the Bluetooth on in the APP as well! Now we can get back to more pressing issues 😁 I get notifications too.

Thank you. This worked for me as well. Just wish I didn’t have to have the preview show up on my phone too.

Hi,
so I’ve spent a large part of today on the phone with “technical support” and I’ve gotten quite the run around. First of all, they say there’s a fix in the works, but apparently no one knows the timeline. Personally, having worked in project management, I find that impossible to believe. Secondly, if they cannot provide a fix, according to the individuals I spoke with (and by the end of it all, I was beyond frustrated and far less than my best self), they “probably” won’t replace the devices that don’t work the way they were advertised (exact wording from a “George”: “probably not”). So if you bought your device more than 45 days ago, according to the Technical Support folks I spoke with, we’re essentially S.O.L. (my phrasing, not theirs, but definitely their message).
Frankly, I’m utterly disheartened by this entire experience. I’ve never had technical support so blatantly refuse transparency to customers in such a way before. I don’t think asking for a timeline for those of us who are impacted is out of line, but apparently it is. I purchased mine 55 days ago — the update happened 5 days after I lost my chance at a refund. And Fitbit is hiding behind “policy”, other departments, and blaming Apple. This is my LAST Fitbit device, and I will discourage everyone I know from joining in the Fitbit thing. They don’t care about us as customers — thats become abundantly clear. They do, however, care about our money: exemplified clearly through the fact that they’re refusing to refund the devices that don’t work properly after this update.
OH, possibly the best part: they don’t look at these forums, so they don’t know what we’re experiencing unless we call them. Then when we do call them, they hang up on us, tell us to be patient, and don’t provide any helpful information. They care more about the language we use than the issues were having.
Hey, Fitbit. Bet you won’t respond to this, or any of the other folks whose business you lost. Which does prove my point above 🙂

I am absolutely NOT going to have my text message previews show up on my lock screen or on my phone EVER. How come it worked before without turning this “show previews” setting on? Is there truly “a fix” in the works? I love my Fitbit but if this particular issue doesn’t get fixed, I will never buy one again. I hate saying that but it’s 100% true. You better do your customers right and figure out how to get this corrected.
On a side note, iOS13 is absolutely horrible. Caused nothing but problems for me, including my Fitbit. Funny thing is I’ve only had it for less than a day. You’d think updates would improve things, make technology better, and easier to operate. Nope, not the case here.

I’m having the same but I cannot get WhatsApp messages unless my show previews are on. I did one combo where I got only the notification on my watch that I got a WhatsApp message and with no preview on my phone. I was wondering if you’re able to see the actual WhatsApp message on your watch but only see the notification (without preview) on your phone? And if so, what combo of ‘turn this on, and turn this off’ do you have set?

Is there any update on how long this might take?
This has been going on for sometime. On 30 Sept I was getting a birthday notification every 30 mins from 2.30am (this is when it woke me) it continued all day until midnight. I made the necessary remedial notification changes and even removed the birthday calendar however on 3 Oct it happened again (I had 2 birthdays this day). I let the Fitbit discharge totally hoping this would fix the glitch. However I didn't seem to be getting phone and text notifications on the Fitbit (imperative given my hearing loss). I don't regularly check my sleep pattern (the only other feature I actually use besides the time) but noticed that it hadn't updated since 21 Sept. Given the Alta was several years old I thought it must be on its way out. Ran around town to get another Alta (I only have a very small wrist so the square faced models are bigger than the width of my wrist. Happy to get Alta HR but of course are run-out items so had great difficulty in getting one.
After removing Alta from iphone I tried to pair and sync new Alta HR. It wouldn't find the bluetooth at all. At this point I received the message about the IOS updated issue. Obviously the interplay between IOS 13.1.2 and Fitbit has presented an enormous challenge and because I'm about to travel to the other side of the world I'm relying on my technology and will only have limited access to wifi while away to undertake further remedial actions.
As this seems to have been around for a month - is there a deadline you are working to?

You had an issue with it long before the new update that Apple did. Might be time to start being honest with us. Because so far you haven’t been.

Same here! If I had known that this would happen, I would not have updated my phone when I was first asked to do so.
Come on FitBbit - sort it out!

Did you find the spot to turn on the Bluetooth in the Fitbit App? On your phone go to Settings > Fitbit > Bluetooth and turn it on. Worked for me. (BTW I don't work for Apple 🍎 despite my call name 😁)
