Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have done everything in the steps several times and it still isn’t working for me either. If I would have know this, I wouldn’t have updated my tracker. Very frustrating.

I finally started receiving text messages. I completed all the steps again, including restarting Fitbit and phone as well as leaving my phone text notifications to “preview” of the messages (which I am not a fan of- don’t like others near me to be able to see my messages). After I received a text to my Fitbit I went back into the settings and changed it so I didn’t receive previews (set it to “only when unlocked”). Fortunately, I was still able to get text messages.

not the best fix, but at least now getting all my notifications back on my charge 2.

I found a fix!!!! Finally!!
I logged into the Fitbit app and disconnected my Versa from the app, then went into Bluetooth and hit “forget this device”. Then went back into the Fitbit app and reconnected my Versa and reconnected it to Bluetooth. It sets it up as if the Versa was new and now works like a charm.
Glad to have all my functions back!! Hope this works for everyone else too!

Tried all steps multiple times - receiving all alerts EXCEPT text, which is the main one I like

No issues before I updated to iOS13

Upgraded fitbit from charge 2 to versa 2 with no change

Using latest iOS and fitbit version

REALLY WISH TEXT ALERTS WOULD WORK AGAIN!

I agree with everyone who is concerned about privacy issues with text
notifications. I’m not pleased with the problem either. Hopefully this will
be resolved and SOON!

Just to be clear, the instructions that worked for me were the ones given by Lhernand! He suggested that I remove my Versa from the Fitbit app, restart my phone and then set the Versa up as a new device. I'd done all the instructions given by the Fitbit community before that, but none of them worked.

I had the Charge 2 and recently purchased the Inspire HR because I thought my Charge 2 was just old which is why I wasn't receiving text messages.  Unfortunately that is not the case.  I've tried EVERY single solution in this thread and the only thing I can't get is texts (which is 50% of the reason I use my fitbit).  I'm a fan of Fitbit products but I'm losing my faith.  Lots of monetary and time investment for something that doesn't do what it's promised to do.

Has anyone had success specific with iPhone 10, iOS 13 and the inspire HR?  I'd really like to get this feature working.  If not i'm going back to the super heavy iWatch but at least it works.

Thanks!

Hi Kate,

I've followed all the directions more than once and can't get my Versa 2 to show calendar or text.  It shows calls coming in but that's it.  All notifications are on but nothing shows on my FitBit. I used to get text notifications before the ios update but never have I had calendar notifications.  Can you help?

After a month and many attempts, I've finally got it to work.   I was having issues with notifications and with the Fitbit not paring.   I know it may have been posted many times but here was my solution. I have an iPhone and Versa SE

1. Turn off Fitbit

2. On the phone unpair in the Bluetooth setting.

3. In the Fitbot app, remove the Fitbit.

4. Restart phone.

5. Turn Fitbit watch on.

6. In the App add the Fitbit.

7. Hope it works, It finally did for me...

Thanks JLDAD!  Unfortunately I don't think the inspire HR has a shut off option 😞  Thanks for trying.

I have completed the suggested steps, more times than I can count, without resolution. I get alerts that I’m on a phone call, but text messages still will not come through from my iPhone. Very disappointing.

I did update to the new 13.3 before I tried all these steps.  No dice.

@Shannon2019 this is working for me..

On iPhone go to settings - notifications - messages - show previews - when unlocked. You will start getting alerts after that on Fitbit but only see the message on your phone when you unlock it. I have iPhone 11 Pro Max on newest update and Fitbit newest update with an Alta and it’s working fine this way until they fix it.

YAY!!! Thank you Frbdgirl97! That fixed it 🙂 Bless you!

On my phone I went to
>settings
>notifications

>messages

>show previews

Select always

I had previews turned off, when I changed that I started receiving text notifications on my phone.

But setting previews to Always can not be called a solution, it is at best a workaround. I have updated to iOS 13.3, still same issues with notifications of course. Fitbit, you need to fix this, it is obviously not going to be fixed by an iOS update.
