Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Is there no other way to get the messages besides having your texts show on the phone screen. I know previously I had mine set where it notified me even without it being set to Always or only when unlocked? I don’t need everyone I work with reading my messages. Just to get them on my Fitbit.

So sorry to hear!! Sadly this is my pain also, I contacted Apple and FitBit company neither know what to do, the best they did was send me a complimentary versa lite to replace the one I took the financial hit on, which to me was fine that evened it out for me. I am alone can't keep buying new fitbits every week.... And they told me to check back with them every week to see if they got the "bugs" out of the iOS 13.... What a circus tho.... Try and get your phone replaced if you can't find the paperwork.... I am guilty of the same thing either I throw everything out or I keep the papers that don't need to be kept.. but I am learning... I do suffer from Atrial Fib, Wich that's a High fast heartbeat that comes on all of a sudden this watch believe it or not saved my life 2 times already. I am really scared now because the watch still don't work correctly since it won't sync, so I feel so unprotected and death can happen at any time not knowing my HR .. I pray this gets fixed Asap.. Good luck.. to you

I did all the steps. Almost couldn’t get my watch to turn back on after reset!!!

I still am not getting my text message notifications. It is very frustrating!!!

I’ve tried the recommended fixes multiple times (versa).  I’m getting call alerts but no text or calendar alerts.  I called the help desk and was told to wait for a fix.  I know people who have gotten a versa 2 and all functions normally.  I’m wondering if this is a push to get us to purchase a newer model?  I’ve always loved my Fitbit devices but fear I will have to change brands.

I just got a new Versa 2 and followed the above with no luck.  Any other options????

I have a Fitbit Versa and have tried all of the recommended troubleshooting techniques several times. I am still unable to receive texts on my Fitbit. This is beyond frustrating as that is one of the reasons I purchased the device. What are you all doing to resolve these issues that so many are having? You certainly can’t continue to blame it on the IPhone update as it seems to be a Fitbit issue. Please advise.

Didn’t work for me. I can get past Notifications on the fit bit app.  When I tap on it a little wheel just keeps turning for several minutes and then I get a pop up that says Bluetooth Pairing Required. I tap on Setup and everything disappears. I have an iPhone 8 and the Charge3. What now?

@Aborn  I believe there is an issue with the Fitbit charge 3 having syncing issue. If your's is affected by it  than it's just kind of compounding the issue for you.

There are a few issues out there which fitbit has said they are working on a fix, but it's been several months with no update.

1. Ios notification issue

2. Fitbit Blaze constant vibration issue

3. Charge 3 syncing

4 Charge 2 battery drain.  Fitbits last firmware update caused issues and I believe customers  called the news  to get an answer on that. You can read the article here: https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/fitbit-charge-2-firmware-update-battery-1.5258511

This does not work. I have a brand new device and cannot receive text messages on my Fibit Versa 2. Every step was followed and my iPhone has the latest iOS. The Versa is current with updates. This is most discouraging. Will this be resolved or do I need to return this (my second Fibit) Versa and voice my displeasure to would be Fibit buyers. Knowing that Fibit has been aware of this issue and no fix is very concerning. Whatever is in your current resolution is NOT a resolution!

I would be returning it as I’ve had the first versa then just got the versa 2 and it’s still not working done everything they said didn’t over an hour on the phone with them only for them to say we are working on trying to fix this and blaming Apple

I tried multiple times to reset my Fitbit and iPhone following these instructions and they still do not sync.  AND.... even more frustrating is that when I make an outgoing call, my Fitbit starts vibrating (like I’m receiving a call)!  So this Fitbit’s notifications either do not work or are back-asswards. Great job Fitbit .... not!

I have been afraid to update my phone to IOS 13.x for fear of losing text notifications.  Today I took the plunge and first updated my husband’s iPhone 5SE.  To make the old Flex 2 vibrate on text notifications I did need to restart it and toggle off and on share notifications.  On my iPhone 6S  I didn’t have to change anything to make my Inspire HR vibrate and show text messages.  I already had set show previews to always.

I’m glad I got lucky.

I tried all the steps above multiple times. I do receive a notification/vibration when I receive Phone Calls on my Versa. My issue is that I do not receive any preview or notification when I receive a text message. When I go to my Fitbit Versa and swipe down, the text will be shown there along with other notifications and the option to 'Clear All'. If there is anything else I can try, I will for sure be happy to. The whole reason I got this watch is because of the call/text notifications.
