Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Having the same problem with no longer receiving texts messages etc. on my Inspire HR. Have iPhone 7 with software update 13.3 and Fit Bit app update 3.12.1. I've tried the steps several times to no avail. Today I removed the FitBit from my account and reinstalled it and started getting texts and notifications for about 1 hour then back to the same issue.

I am so frustrated with FitBit at this point that I won't ever buy another Fitbit device. I've had several and keep having similar problems with each one.

They need to fix this issue if they want to keep customers.

I’ve tried this multiple times, factory reset, Bluetooth on/off, checked notifications. My phone calls come through to the Versa but not text messages.

I just spent an hour chatting with a support person, restarting my phone, deleting and reinstalling the FitBit app, uninstalling and reinstalling my FitBit Inspire and the same thing happens. They were not able to fix the problem and are looking into it more. They said they would send me an email with a solution. Not holding my breathe for a quick solution though.

Agree to the frustration. After more than an hour chatting with support, still no resolution. Glad to know I’m not alone in this problem, but they really need to fix it.

I’ve had this issue for months now! Spoke to support a couple times and they go through the steps which never works. They then say it’s a known problem down to the IOS update. I don’t think it is. The problems started when I updated my Versa device, not my iPhone! My wife has updated her phone but not her Versa and she has no problems. Pissed off is an understatement. Fix it!

I have tried all the fixes reinstalled, rebooted etc and it still won't work for me.  Occasionally, directly after working through the fixes, I will get notifications of texts for a brief period, but no vibration (watch vibrate works otherwise).  I get call notifications but not text or any other app notifications.

I relied on this feature quite heavily so its pretty frustrating.

I bought the versa 1 cause my daughter had one and she loved it. With all the problems she bought an apple. I’m not to far behind her. I will get one too. With the last up date, it stoped updating and getting message on it. I did what I was instructed and lost the face I had on it I paid for but it updated and messages were lost. Now with the new IOS update, I get the simple sleep. I tried all to get things back , reinstalling app, turning watch off, spent hours and my husband tried too. I’m done. Guys get it together over there. Fix the problems already . You are losing customers. And won’t get new ones.
I’m soooooo disappointed. I really DID love my versa, but I WILL NOT buy another one. My versa is doing less and less every update.

I am beyond frustrated and way too old to deal with this.

I just got my Versa 2 and out of the box notifications worked great, until I went to bed and turned on sleep mode. Then I woke up the next morning and all I get was calls. Which is ok but I would like to get the other notifications too for like snap and stuff. Tried this a few times and it still doesn’t work. 🙁

I bought the ionic because it was your flagship fitbit. I was impressed with the features and thought it was worth the extra money. Not the case. When I’m running long distances, I have my phone strapped to my arm, and in some cases it’s covered by my running jacket. I rely entirely on my ionic to view messages as they come in while running. Without the messaging feature, I might as well go back to my $10 digital Timex that’s sitting in my glovebox.  Frustrated, feeling gypped, and reluctantly looking at other companies. It was fun while it lasted, fitbit.

I tried everything 3 times and still not working. When will this be fixed. I got the versa because it had the text notification and now I am regretting it. When will this issue be fixed or so I need to think about moving onto a different device.

Finally works for me!

Spoke to Fitbit support and did the below and it now works for my iPhone X on ios13

Remove the tracker's from your bluetooth 'forget this device'
Remove your tracker from your fitbit account in the app
Log out from your Fitbit app and then force quit the app.
Turn Off the Bluetooth and the internet of your phone, via the settings app
Reboot your phone
While your phone is rebooting, please try to restart your tracker.
Turn On your phone and turn On the Bluetooth and the internet of your phone.
Log in to your Fitbit app.
Setup your tracker as a New Device and initiate a sync.
Check that Share System Notifications is on in Bluetooth settings under your fitbit

In the Fitbit app ensure that notifications is switched on.
