Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

This is a joke. I have tried everything at least a dozen times. It’s ridiculous, none of your “tips” help. I’m returning this product ASAP and making sure to tell others not to invest in this.

I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10 and I have tried all of these steps multiple times to no avail.  All of my notifications come through except my messages! It was working just fine until my latest system update and now no messages. I want my money back so that I can purchase a device where I'm able to retrieve my messages without looking at my phone. What a waste!!!

So now you have previews of your txt on your phone too ??

No fix as of yet. I have had this Versa2 for less than a month. I'm giving them a few more days and then I'm going to return it. If I cant get mybtext messages it is useless to me!!!

It’s now 1/7/19 and I’m still struggling to get text messages on my phone. I honestly want to get rid of my Fitbit it’s so frustrating. The main reason I wanted the Fitbit was for receiving text messages so I didn’t have to be tied to my phone. I’ve tried everything and followed the instructions twice and still nothing 😞

I have tried everything listed to get my Fitbit to receive notifications on my iPhone since the new update. I haven't even had my Fitbit a year and half of the time it has not worked with my phone. I would have though after all these months it would have been fixed by now. Very disappointed. Wishing now that I went with an iWatch instead.

Mine is too, dec 27th I ordered it. The customer service is saying unless u
return it for a refund within the 45 days, that wont fix the issue. I'm
considering exchanging and NOT doing the update to see if it helps until a
patch is performed. Otherwise I'm selling mine due to how it was purchased
from health plan dollars and not a debit card.

None of those tips worked for me either. I am getting all the notifications from my Fitbit Ionic to my phone but my Fitbit no longer vibrates when I get a notification. But when I have an alarms set or a timer my Fitbit does vibrate, so I am not sure what is going on.

This was in response to my DM on Twitter yesterday:

Hello. We're sorry for the inconvenience this has caused you. We know how important this is for you and definitely not the experience we want you to have. Though we don't have an ETA to share as of yet, be certain that we are working round-the-clock to get everything back to how it was. For updates on our progress, you can follow along with this Community discussion: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Stopped-seeing-notifications-after-updating-to-iOS-13/m-p/37.... Meantime, please try the other notification tips outlined here: https://help.fitbit.com/articles/en_US/Help_article/1979#iOS_quicktips. Your patience on this matter is highly appreciated. Let me know should you have any concerns.

One cannot leave a review on Amazon, I bought my Versa at Costco - I will leave a review there but did a quick google search and generic review sites are hard to find.  The word has to get out on this.  I have tried everything INCLUDING a factory reset, several times and simply will not waste more time on this.  I also have had many fitbit products.  This is a complete loser and completely out of integrity.  Mine is eight months old or I would return it!

Best Answer

I would. I would return mine if I could. Bought a bunch of bands to change it and it hasn’t worked with my phone in months.

I agree 100%. If and when they figure this out Apple will be onto a new version of software and it start all over. I figured it would take a week or two to resolve but it’s now been 3+ months.
