Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Well the only way I can get my messages on my Versa watch is to go into settings on my iPhone - Notifications - Messages- Click Show preview..  HOWEVER, that does show the preview of the txt message on my phone ..that is NOT how it should work. I guess that will have to do until the latest update comes out to fix it 🙄

I just returned the charge 3 I got for Christmas. All they would do was swap it out for another. Set it up and so far it’s working! (Fingers crossed, knocking on wood) in the set up process I saw several things that did not show up the first time. One being a Fitbit update! Ha! Take your back.
Also on my first one there were activities tracked on dates starting back to November, I didn’t set mine up till Christmas Day?! They said it wasn’t refurbished but I’m just wondering.

Text and phone call notifications were significant reasons why I wore my Charge 2 everyday.  Unfortunately, since Fitbit didn't have a solution to fix this (and I spent 25 min on the phone with a very nice customer service person walking me through every possible option to fix), it pushed me over the edge to buy an Apple Watch, and I'm pretty happy with it!  I can only imagine the impact this is having on Fitbit as a company so hopefully they get it figured out soon.

I shouldn’t have upgraded to iOS 13.3.  I didn’t heed the warnings that it sucks.  Not my Fitbit has been bit!   Mine does what yours does, and NOW even alerts me when I make an OUTGOING CALL!!!   And I have no answer/ignore button on incoming calls.  Fitbit needs to work with Apple and get this fixed.  I believe it’s Apple’s fault judging by all the other issues but we don’t care.  Just needs to be fixed.

It’s apples fault but they did it on purpose to break Fitbit and cause all their users to want iWatches.  Pretty shrewd.  Especially since Google just bought Fitbit.

Tried these steps 3 times and still do not receive any notifications for calls or texts on my Charge 2. Phone is an iPhone 8 running iOS 13.3.3.

Seems from the comments that this has been going on a very long time and is a major inconvenience. I've been missing work calls while working out because I didn't realize a major functionality of the Fitbit was no longer there.

Tried everything on here and finally this simple trick worked (to get text notifications on Fitbit)

1. In the Fitbit app, tap the Today tab >your profile picture> NOTIFICATIONS

2. Turn off ALL notifications

3. Restart your phone

4. Open the Fitbit app, turn notifications back on, then sync your Fitbit device.

That’s all it took! So simple. Anyway, hope that helps someone else.

still isn't working for me.  i've contacted fitbit 4 months ago went through there troubleshooting (which i'm not an idiot, i know how to restart a phone and device, have auto updates on etc) and nothing still 4 months on no text messages.

i believe as its now a discontinued device fitbit are doing FA to fix... how does it take this long to correct something they should have been across months ago.

pathetic.

Tried this several times and it’s still not fixing notifications. iPhone 11 recognizes Fitbit under Bluetooth settings and it syncs but Fitbit app says it’s not in all day sync and I can’t change notifications. This is also preventing noom app from syncing with Fitbit steps

The only thing that worked for me after trying literally everything else. Settings > Notifications > Messages > Show Previews > Always. I was only doing it on the Fitbit part not my actual phone messages. I had them set to show as iMessage only before. Rebooted my phone and boom. After 4 months!!!
