Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

This is STILL not working after following the steps MANY times and deleting/re-downloading. I do not want to go back to my Apple Watch because I love the layout of the Fitbit app and also how accurate the tracking is when compared. Do I have a dud?? I do not even have the option of selecting "notifications" on my watch from the settings app.

Mine must be a dud too. I've asked Fitbit to tell me if they ever fix this
problem as I can't be bothered with this 'service' any longer.

But now the preview of the text shows on your phone too right?

I had an 8plus when the update hit. Tried all of the steps multiple times and never worked. I upgraded to the XR and still have the same problem, not receiving text on my Versa. I have updated everything, uninstalled and reinstalled everything, did all steps listed.....again multiple times. Any help on this?

Halleluja, my Fitbit Charge 3 works!!!

The (Dutch) customer service told me these two steps, I've tried the first one and it worked:

* Doe het apparaat in de lader.
* Houd de knop in voor 15 seconden
* Het apparaat gaat aan, een batterij symbool verschijnt in beeld en zal 2 vibraties voelen, een korte en een lange.
* Het apparaat gaat uit.
* Het apparaat gaat weer aan en u zal een progressiebalk zien en u zal een totaal van 7 kleine vibraties voelen
* Verwijder het apparaat van de oplaadkabel, het zal automatisch uit gaan.
* Belangrijk. Doe het apparaat weer aan de oplaadkabel.'

Since Fitbit's customer service most likely used Google Translate, so did I 😄 It said:

'We want you to place the charger on the Charge 3 and leave it on for a few hours.

We also advise you to reset the Charge 3, as indicated below:

* Remove the Fitbit from the Bluetooth settings of the phone.
* Open the Fitbit app and click on the icon at the top left
* Press + set device and click on the desired Fitbit, it is important that the Fitbit is in the charger.
* Accept the terms and conditions and the phone will search for your device
* Enter the 4 digit code

It is also possible that a long restart will resolve the issue:
* Put the device in the charger.
* Hold the button for 15 seconds
* The device turns on, a battery symbol appears on the screen and will feel 2 vibrations, one short and one long.
* The device turns off.
* The device turns on again and you will see a progress bar and you will feel a total of 7 small vibrations
* Remove the device from the charging cable, it will turn off automatically.
* Important. Reconnect the device to the charging cable.'

I do hope this might help others with problems, in the meantime I hope my watch starts doing what it should do...

NONE of these efforts/solutions work more than one day.  it will start working and then go away.  cannot get text notifications.  was working just fine, and then 30 min later, no more notices.  each morning i disconnect from iPhone and reconnect so it will try to get notices. works a few hours, then nothing.  i have completed so may trys of always show, update, restart, disconnect, reconnect, restart phone, etc etc etc.  called fitbit, and they know there is a problem and thank me for my purchase.  nice, best feature and reason to by the fitbit DOES NOT WORK.  if it is working it will stop soon.  quite disappointed in the efforts to get me to upgrade to a model that is not as advertised and zero efforts are appearing as updates, only, yeah, sorry a problem. thanks for buying!

None of these worked! Hasn’t worked in months now. I literally bought a new Versa 2 & still not working!!! I can’t believe Fotbit still hasn’t fixed this issue. I’m returning it & getting a Apple Watch 🤦🏻‍:female_sign:

I have tried everything. Literally everything. I tried it on my old charge 2 and the versa 2 that I just purchased. I tried it all at least 20 times on each. Nothing works. I will be returning the versa 2.
