Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

Was about to update to a Charge 3.... but Garmin is looking more attractive at the moment, sadly 😞

I just looked at the Garmin forums and they are complaining about the same thing — Apple is requiring Show Previews for notifications to show up on the Garmin.

So maybe we should cut Fitbit some slack and direct our ire at Apple.

@RachelR122 This worked for me as well, although at "Show Previews" I chose "When unlocked" so I can keep some privacy with my messages still.

Try this. I checked the apple website and everything started working after I did this step.

Try going to settings > notifications > messages and turn on your message previews. That is what worked for me.

I have an iPhone 11 Pro that is updated. My Fitbit charge 2 is updated, I’ve done all the steps listed 3 times. I get phone call notifications, voice mail notifications, and calendar notifications, but I do not get text notifications. Please fix this error. It is very frustrating.

It’s been months and I still can’t get any text notification on my charger 2 . I’ve tried reset etc .. and I still can’t get them. It’s getting frustrating ! I’ve already updated both the iPhone and the Fitbit app and nothing. Did anyone had any luck??

I brought the versa lite last week and have had nothing but issues. First it would never detect my heart rate. Then the update issue started. I’ve been trying for 2 days to update. I restored to factory settings and now the update just keeps going from the white Fitbit logo then flashes to the blue logo vibrates and starts again. For 2 days. I can’t even get the device to start up. I have deleted and reinstalled the app twice. I’ve restarted my phone. I’ve tried it all. I’m about to return this. Worst Fitbit I’ve ever had so far.

I have literally done all of these steps 10x. I have followed the steps precisely and it still doesn’t work. I just got the Versa Lite for Christmas and everything worked fine until I did the iOS update. It is very frustrating having a brand new device that doesn’t work properly.

I give up! I’ve tried everything multiple times, for over a month and nothing has worked to restore notifications and all-day sync. My husband surprised with A new Apple Watch series 5 and I Love It!!!

so That’s it, I’m done, Goodbye Fitbit

I totally agree. I got the Versa 2 for Christmas and after the update no text. I get all of the other notifications but no text. I have tried all of the troubleshooting tips more than several times everyday throughout the course of a week and nothing. I called Fitbit last night and they said that they are going to send out an app update that will fix the problem but refused to give me a ETA. "We send updates out all the time, it will come soon".

I have until Feb 2 to send my Fitbit back and if they dont fix this by Jan 31st that is exactly what I'm going to do!!

Yay! Got it working again. I noticed that after charging my Fitbit it wasn’t syncing with the app. It’s still registered low battery and was slow to record everything in my dashboard. After trying all of Fitbit’s suggestions by turning everything off and on( Bluetooth, notifications, etc)
I went to settings on my iPhone 8, then general, iPhone storage, selected the Fitbit app, then instead of deleting the app itself and losing all my information I selected offload app. When I reloaded app, synced it by pulling it down from the dashboard it still registered low battery.
I decided to reset my Fitbit one. I unplugged and replugged the charger and USB port first.  Then I put Fitbit in the charger and held down the reset button for 30 seconds since 10-15 seconds didn’t work.  After turning the device on I synced it again. It took a few minutes. It still registered low battery and it could not locate the device. I turned everything off and on again in settings associated with the app. Frustrated and after about 20 minutes I rechecked it and low and behold it was working again!!!  Something kicked in. I hope this helps someone.

I just purchased my first Fitbit ever, a Charge 3, on January 7, 2020.  I received it on January 8 and set it up immediately.  It does not give me notifications or the weather.  I have tried all the methods to fix it numerous times but still have had no luck (I have iOS13. I am ready to return it.  This is extremely disappointing.  Is there a direct phone number to call to contact?

Try going to settings > notifications > messages and turn on your message previews. That is what worked for me.
