Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article.
This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.
These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.
If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.
1. GET UP-TO-DATE
- Update the Fitbit app.
- Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.
2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS
- Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
- Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
- Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
- Tap the information icon
- Turn on Share System Notifications.
3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS
- Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
- Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
- Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App | Settings |
---|---|
Calendar |
|
Messages |
|
Phone |
|
All other apps |
|
4. RESTART YOUR PHONE
For instructions, see the Apple help article.
5. DOUBLE-CHECK
If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:
- DO NOT DISTURB
This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:
- On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
- Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
- SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
- With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab
- Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
- Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
- Sync your device.
Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

FIXED
My fitbit app has been bugging out for the last 2 updates & about 2 months. Screen tap on my iphone would not open anything and it was particularly frustrating not to tap and open my sleep score. Updating & deleting app did not work. TURNING MY PHONE OFF DID WORK. (Please note i tried everything else recommended first).

I’ve tried everything, but nothing works. It vibrates for phone calls, but it won’t alert me to texts.
Since iOS 13 came out, Apple have released 10-20 incremental updates to fix issues.
I’d expect Fitbit to have addressed this issue with an update by now.

So finally updated to IOS 13 a few weeks ago thinking that all of the bugs and glitches had been worked out only to run across this surprise issue while using my charge 3 that has not been fixed since October 2019. While the solution does work, it quickly unsycs itself from the phone, sometimes 15 minutes later, other times an hour or or more, but the result is always the same. It is not a solution it is a patch and a bad one at that. While I haven't been struggling nearly as long as other customers faced with this issue, it is frustrating as everytime it unsyncs it starts to lose time so it doesn't even make a good watch while you are waiting for a real patch that will actually fix the problem. This is the second time I had a problem with a fitbit (first one was with a charge 2 that burned a hole in my arm while I slept). While I have been patient, (It unsyncs...I delete everything fitbit related on my phone.....reinstall and put my information back in....resync....it is good for a brief time....then it unsyncs again....repeat process) I don't really have the patience to wait months for a real solution that's not going to come and I am about ready to give up and file a small claims action as well as file as file a complaint with the state's AG office.
Note: Not sure if this helps but IOS 13 reads the fitbit not as the Charge 3 but an Apple Watch while going through the fitbit app.

My WhatsApp notifications are hit and miss, one minute they’ll be working, the next I have to restart the Fitbit.. which is incredibly frustrating as I don’t have the charger with me all the time! Can anyone help? Why do the notifications work fine and then suddenly stop? I’m getting bored of having to keep messing... one of the things that appealed to me was the notifications!

And I have a Samsung phone so I am android. Is there different instructions for Android? I even spent an hour on the phone with a tech from fitbit and he couldn't fix it either. Maybe I need a new watch?

KateFitbit (Fitbit Moderator) - who recommended that after completing those
steps I return to my phone - select "forget this device" for the blue tooth
options, turned off phone, turned off fit bit waited a few minutes then
turned on phone and then Fitbit and went to enable notifications - which it
allowed it to "re-recognize" my fit bit! Thank you!!

I corresponded with Fitbit support through Twitter yesterday. They tried a few things from their end with my information and then they implied this issue will be fixed with a future update. They did not say when, but said to keep checking for updates. They were very responsive. If you are on Twitter, post your question to @fitbitsupport.

So I read somewhere that changing the clock face resets the Fitbit and thus, allows notifications again. Not ideal, but a little work around.. for now

Hello! I have tried all of these steps numerous times and still no text messages.
I deleted the Fitbit app from my Iphone and redownloaded which solved the issue for receiving phone call notifications, but not texts.

I have tried all of these suggestions. I am not even wearing my Fitbit right now because it drives me crazy with the continuous buzzing when I get a phone call. Please tell me this is going to be fixed.
