Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have tried this and my device is still not working properly. I do not get any text messages. For phone calls the stupid thing shows an incoming call when I call out. No other notifications what so ever. This is becoming a real pain in the **ahem**.

I agree, I thought it was sorted but it only lasted for two messages then stopped again 🤦‍:female_sign:

I was at the end of my wits with this and told

my boyfriend I was just going to get an Apple Watch since this dang thing couldn’t even notify me when texts came in. However I realized after going in & erasing customer data essentially “resetting the factory setting”, rebooting my charge 3, rebooting my iPhone 7X, “forgetting” my Bluetooth to my charge 3, repairing my charge 3 to my Bluetooth, and going into my phone notifications for my messages and putting the preview to “when unlocked”, I’m now getting text notifications across my charge 3.

Not too sure how long this will work, maybe for a few minutes or maybe indefinitely, but I’m just relieved it’s back to working for now as I was disheartened to say the least.

Maybe this will help someone else 🙂

Awesome. My wife’s had the same issue but she has not been able to resolve this. I have seen a few responses where it only worked for a few messages. Please let us know if it lasts. Thanks!👍🏽👏🏽🙏🏽

Wow.  What a disappointment.  And here I thought Fitbit finally had resolution to this problem.  Only to have wasted more time trying to be careful and deliberate by closely following the instructions step by step and I'm still not getting text notifications (which was one of the reasons I chose this device).  So I called and spoke with someone who, after some time, admitted there still isn't a fix.  But that Fitbit is working on the resolution.  "Thank you for your patience."  I'm not patient.  I'm really irritated.  Why not be upfront about it.  There's something to be said about transparency, Fitbit.  And I love the heading - "We're aware that some customers..."    Sounds like more than "some" customers are having this issue.  And Fitbit isn't stepping up to the plate with a true resolution.  How about a refund since the device doesn't do what it supposedly would do when I purchased it?

I really wish that there was honesty and transparency from the company for customers or prospective customers that have iPhones when it comes the notification features not working. It is quite frustrating to buy a product and not have all of the features working.

Especially when I could have purchased an some other smart watch instead.

An alert on FitBit.com would be nice.

I am getting frustrated because this works only for a short time and then the sync stops again. I feel as if I am running through these steps on an almost daily basis. This is the third time in four days my Fitbit device has stopped being recognized by my phone. When will this problem be fixed. I want to love the Versa 2 but this is getting ridiculous.

My husband’s Charge 2 works fine on iOS13. He does have an extra “setting” in his Charge 2 “notifications” section in the Fitbit app. Under “text messages”, he has a “display” option as well, which allows him to toggle between seeing “sender and message” or just “sender”. Does this matter? My CHARGE 3 Settings don’t have this option

I'm sure that someone has responded to this and you've sorted it already but I had to basically do those steps then "forget my device" then re-pair my InspireHR then it finally worked for me again (took me a while to figure it out!)

Thanks!

Thank you! I’ve tried that 😞 Along with deleting and resetting my Fitbit, the app, the account..restarted the device and phone in between, all notifications off then on, Bluetooth off and back on, allowing notifications from Fitbit (actually it never asks like the article says, but it’s on), all settings are on on the Fitbit. I’m wondering if I need to make a new account 😕 I even deleted cookies on my phone! I get phone call notifications fine, but don’t get texts, and my other apps don’t even have the option to show notifications on my Fitbit. It’s super annoying to say the least lol

You won’t find honesty or product backing unfortunately. My Charge 2 band broke 4 months after purchase, they replaced it. Then the new one broke 3 months after replacement. Again, they replaced it. The next one broke 5 months later, and they wouldn’t replace it because it was just over a year after the ORIGINAL purchase. Nevermind that THEIR replacement bands kept breaking too. I was SOL and they couldn’t care less!

That is the best point made! This has been an issue for a while now and still no response and no fix. I will never get another fitbit. The moderator has not even responded and I am sure she sees all the posts. This is appalling.

I have tried all the options told to follow and it will connect my Iphone to my fitbit for a day, but then it quits again.  Every day I have to go into my bluetooth setting on my phone, hit the forget device, and add it back in to get it to work for another day.  Just bought this fitbit for Christmas so I could see phone calls and text messages so if this doesnt start to work soon I will probably return the fitbit.
