Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have tried a few times to resolve this issue.  My phone and my Ionic have been restarted numerous times, I have followed your instructions, bluetooth has been turn off and on on my phone as well.  Now, my ionic will not even pick up my wifi even when I am right beside it, so I appear to be worse off than when I started.  This has been an all-day affair and I am done for the night.  Hopefully tomorrow will be a brighter day in my fitbit world.

FINALLY figured it out for my Charge 3! I was only checking notifications for the Fitbit app in my settings. I had NOT changed my message notification settings for my messaging app itself to “Notification Center”. Hopefully that helps someone. (I didn’t do any of those crazy restart and turn off and delete steps again..JUST turned on Notification Center within my messaging app settings, then synced Fitbit.

I have gone step by step through every single fix that has been posted.
Today I got dropped twice!! It is t that I’m not getting notifications, I
am not syncing period. It keeps dropping the device from the app. I get
tweets, emails, and texts, but can’t get it to sync with the app. It keeps
telling me that the device is not found. It will sync about half way then
get “stuck” and load for a few minutes then say device not found. If Forget
the device in Bluetooth then hard start both devices I can be rediscovered
sometimes, but it isn’t consistent. Why doe it keep losing the device??

I’m done, haha. I’ve tried for another day, unsuccessfully, to get this working. I even did a factory reset today, with no luck! So disappointed because I got this for Christmas and was so looking forward to using ALL features. I’ll be returning it this week, if no fix is made.

Do you lose your data when you do this?  If not, I will try to remove mine and re-start.  I am worse off then when I started this morning as it will not pick up my wifi at all anymore.

Thanks,

I am not deleting the app just force quitting/ rebooting both devices. I
have never lost data. I think the data only disappears if you delete the
app. Then only what hasn’t synced to the website.

I tried all of the above steps several times. Also did a factory reset and deleted the app and downloaded it again. Still not working.

Sorry. I would contact customer support. That is my next step. I am really
annoyed. We all should be. The fact that in this whole tread not one person
working for Fitbit has commented says a lot.

I FIXED MY FITBIT! I was experiencing this issue!!! Remove the Fitbit from your account completely, exit and shut down the app. Open the app and reconnect your Fitbit as if it was a new device!!!! I get notification vibrations for texts and everything!!!!

Hi I tried this option and it worked for me. Go to Fitbit app in ur iPhone.
Click your image on the top left corner of the screen. It will show your
account and all details. Click Versa or whatever your Fitbit app is. Then
click notifications in that select yes for all notifications. Probably
after these steps you should be able to view text call and all
notifications.

I have done all the steps that you advised and my exercise is still not updating.  I have tried to reset my watch about 5 times that also didn't work.  With my exercise not updating I can't earn my vitality points and reach my goals.  Please advise what should be done for it to update.

I've followed all of the steps outlined. I have the Versa, IOS 13.3 on iPhone 7. I'm receiving call and voicemail notifications but no text notifications, and haven't, for several months now. Very frustrating.

I did a factory reset on my Fit Bit Versa yesterday and today FINALLY texts and messages are coming through today.

Dont know it it will last, but if you haven’t tried it. Maybe give that a go? It was my last effort as I’d tried ALL the troubleshooting and recommendations I’ve read and this is what worked. Hopefully it will for you as well.

Oh no! That’s wild!

i didn’t have FB messages come trough first but I had to double check to make sure I had wifi connection on

ok try this... factory reset and delete the app altogether.
I literally started from scratch as if I’d just taken the Fit Bit out of the box. (You can’t delete your fit bit account or at least I never tried too, but just deleting the app worked)

before I deleted the app I also went into my Bluetooth and selected forget device.

one I deleted the app I did factory reset and then followed the steps for set up fresh 🤞🏻

I have followed every conceivable method of trying to find my missed history. Complete factory shut downs. Re booting phone etc etc. Nothing is helping. Please help me. I’ve had Fitbit for years but my Ionic has had historic problems. I’m falling out of love. Please phone or contact me

Thank you

I finally figured out how to get text messages to my FitBit (Versa 2) from my phone (iOS 13.2.3. iPhone XR)! The reason I wasn't getting text notifications was because I had the "Show Previews" setting in my text messages set to "Never."  I changed the "Show Previews" option to "Always (Default)" and now I receive texts to my FitBit. It's kind of annoying that now when I receive a text to my lock screen, the message no longer shows up as "iMessage" or "Text Message", you can actually read the text message on my locked screen now. BUT at least I know that's what the cause was. I've always had it so my text messages were private on the lock screen, and before iOS 13, I could still receive texts to my FitBit anyways. Now with iOS 13, I have to have the "Show Previews" option to "Always (Default)" or else I wouldn't get the texts at all to the FitBit. So, ultimately, iOS 13 is still to blame. Hopefully this helps you and/or others!!
