Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have my Fitbit almost a year and with the update kept losing Bluetooth and notifications not showing I recently factory reset the Fitbit and now I’m receiving calls and text notifications and no Bluetooth issues. The Fitbit fix showing in forums does not work. Hope this helps

I tried these steps and received notifications for half a day. Now I am not receiving notifications anymore. This has been going on for far too long and needs to actually be resolved. This is one of the reasons why I got my fitbit in the first place and not having this feature is highly annoying.

Doing a factory reset did not resolve my issue.

I had the same issue. Bottom line, you will need to restart your phone. That seems to get the messages going again.

Thank you for the suggestion but I've reset my phone several times as well as the Fitbit. I reinstalled the app, checked all the settings, and followed other suggestions from the community.  Unfortunately resetting the iphone is the not fix for my phone.

I’ve restarted my phone a multitude of times, as well as reinstalled the app. Thanks for the suggestion but that has done for me.

Tried all of this several times and it would not last. It would work for a little bit and then stop again. I was about to give up and go back to my Charge 2 that I still have. Instead I removed the Charge 3 from my iPhone and reinstalled it. After reinstalling it is working correctly again. We will see how long this last. I have been very disappointed in the fitbit response to the issue.

Thanks, factory reset from within the Fitbit itself, not my iPhone, worked. For those that want to try this:

1.  Go into the settings on the Fitbit Versa.
2.  Open “About,” scroll down to Factory Reset.

3.  Reset.

All of my messages are coming through with vibrations.  The instructions that this board suggested would work briefly, and no vibration.  This seems to work!

Susanmc63 - when you did the factory reset - what info did you lose? Anything?

Anything you haven’t synced will be lost.  You will have to set up the phone as if it was new.  I used the Bitmoji clock face and I had to reconnect it to Snapchat, so yo may have to reconnect some apps.

I didn’t loose any information when I did the factory reset. When I paired the device all the information was there.

Recently purchased Fitbit Versa and trying to get it working. I tried all of the options that were given and still won't install the update. I have tried over wifi and bluetooth as well..looks like it may get to about 75% installing the software then it stops. When I try to connect without the update the fitbit won't even sync. Do I need to return my product or is there a fix? iOS 13.3

I have been unable to sync my Fitbit Charge 3 for a couple of days, actually updated the iphone today to see if that would. My fitbit is only just 6 months old and it is bloody rubbish

Get a fossil gen 5. No issues I will never buy another fitbit. I was a fitbit lover for years. No more! They should have had a fix by now.
