Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

How do I get some real customer service? I don’t have a twitter account and you don’t offer an email addy. Thanks for the generic list of settings to do. When that doesn’t work then what??? (Even trying it 10 times, updating everything, turning everything off and back on) I’m updated to iOS 13.3

Had a Fitbit flex and with the update lost the notifications.  As it’s an old device I upgraded to the charge 3. I Did all the trouble shooting multiple times.   I get notifications for calls, reminders, and games but NO text messages on my new charge 3.  Considering returning it for a competitors model if we can’t get this fixed.  The text message notification was my main reason for wanting the Fitbit in the first place! When can we expect a rreal solution?

Should’ve would’ve could’ve... I’m not familiar with your body of work... BUT I had an Apple Watch and it was sensory overload. Literally gave it away. You legit have 7 days to decide if you can deal with that schizophrenic setup.... moral of the story with the Apple Watch: there are times where NO notifications are actually BETTER than the 5 million notifications and a gazillion apps you can’t see, understand or control with that apparatus.

i just thought in 2019 I could buy a product and it would work as claimed, silly I know. I also didn’t think buying a Watch that notifies me of calls and texts, gives  me stats on steps, Heart rate, sleep data and tracks my workouts was much of a technological feat in 2019... feels low tech... but alas I’m wrong again.

I like this group its like group therapy for the Fitbit jilted lol. I appreciate the forum even tho clearly nothing is coming of it.

Happy new year! keep in touch (tho I probably won’t get the alert) 🤣

Thanks that’s a new one... but isn’t it weird that literally every post of the 4 dozen I’ve gotten in 24 hours had something different that works??? How I’d that even possible? Smh 🤦🏼‍:female_sign:

i kinda wanna just start posting random, elaborate troubleshooting steps... you know for giggles.

i won’t.

Thanks again

I totally agree!

i was able to get it working but I don’t like the preview popping up on my phone. It wasn’t like that before.

This is my exact problem.  They are there if I swipe down, but there is no vibration notification with it.  This was the reason I purchased a fitbit.  Please correct the issue FITBIT.

I’ve done all of the troubleshooting steps three times now and it’s still not working.

It’s been 3 months.  Have done all the steps multiple times.  Do better and fix the problem.

I've tried all of the troubleshooting multiple times and my flex 2 still does not hold a charge for more than about 6 hours.

I am super disappointed with this Charge 3. I have downloaded the newest version of the app, updated my iphone software, tried multiple restarts and resets, disconnected bluetooth, "forgot" device, reset, restart...and still nothing. Notifications worked for about 3 hours after several hours of trying to get them set up and then nothing again.

My phone's bluetooth keeps disconnecting the Charge from my phone, the "reminders to move" keep coming through even though I have them turned off and all in all I am unhappy with this product. I "chatted" with fitbit yesterday and they couldn't solve the issue so elevated my complaint. Still waiting to hear back which doesn't do me much good when a fitness challenge I signed up for starts tomorrow. I want to go back to my less-expensive but more reliable Fitbit Flex2.

I have the Versa.... this solution is not working for me. The notifications are one of the main reasons I have the device.

I got the new iPhone 11 a few months ago & ever since I can’t get notifications on my versa. I’ve tried everything, even factory reset , deleted app, unpaired, repaired, quadruple checked that notifications were on etc & still nothing! Getting very frustrated, has anyone had this issue & figured it out? And yes everything is up to date

That answers my question on whether I should upgrade my iPhone.  Thanks!

Go to settings> notifications > messages> turn ‘show previews’ to always or when unlocked. Notifications will then be sent to your Fitbit.

This sucks because I like to have my ‘show previews’ on never. I don’t like my messages to be seen. I prefer the “iMessage” with the contact name. But choose your battles.
