Stopped seeing notifications after updating to iOS 13

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Update 12/13/2019: Please ensure you are on the latest iOS version, currently 13.3. Also check out the updated instructions in our notification help article

This thread is a continuation of our previous discussion on notification issues introduced with iOS 13. If you are experiencing difficulty with your notifications after updating to iOS 13, please carefully follow the steps in this article, which are also documented below.

These steps should resolve the issue when followed correctly. We realize this process can take some time, and encourage you to proceed carefully and deliberately through every step, even if you think you've already done so.

If these steps do not appear to resolve the issue for you, please try them at least once more to be certain, then respond in this thread with specific details about where you were unable to proceed, or what unexpected behavior you are still experiencing.

1. GET UP-TO-DATE

  1. Update the Fitbit app.
  2. Make sure you installed the latest version of iOS. Tap Settings > General > Software update to see if an update is available.

2. CHECK YOUR BLUETOOTH SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings > Bluetooth.
  2. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device.
  3. Turn Share System Notifications off and then back on. If you don't see the Share System Notifications option:
    1. Restart your Fitbit device. For more information, see How do I restart my Fitbit device?
    2. Tap Allow when you receive a message on your iPhone or iPad asking if you want your Fitbit device to show notifications.
    3. Tap the information icon

next to the name of your Fitbit device
    4. Turn on Share System Notifications.

3. CHECK YOUR NOTIFICATION SETTINGS

  1. Tap Settings in the top-left to return to the Settings page > Notifications.
  2.  Make sure Show Previews is set to Always or When Unlocked.
  3. Verify the settings for each app that sends notifications:
App Settings
Calendar
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Tap each notification type and verify the settings:
    • Alerts > Notification Center—On
    • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Messages
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
Phone
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked
All other apps
  • Allow Notifications—On
  • Alerts > Notification Center—On
  • Show Previews—Always or When Unlocked

4. RESTART YOUR PHONE

For instructions, see the Apple help article.

5. DOUBLE-CHECK

If these steps do not resolve the issue for you, please keep your app up to date, and double-check the following:

  • DO NOT DISTURB

This feature prevents your phone from sending notifications. Verify that Do Not Disturb is off:

  1. On your phone, tap Settings > Do Not Disturb.
  2. Make sure Do Not Disturb is turned off.
  • SET UP NOTIFICATIONS IN THE FITBIT APP
  1. With your Fitbit device nearby, tap the Today tab

     > your profile picture.
  2. Tap your device image > Notifications. Follow the on-screen instructions to pair your Fitbit device to your phone.
  3. Choose the types of notifications you want to receive. Tap App Notifications and choose the apps you want notifications from.
  4. Sync your device.

Again, if these steps do not work for you, please try them more than once and then let us know specific details about your experience so that we can assist further. Please keep your app up to data and watch this thread for new information.

I have the fitbit Inspire HR. Long story short, I have ios 13.3 and app 3.12.1. I briefly had text/call notifications, but then then they stopped. I have done all of the steps multiple times. It takes about 15 minutes for my phone to even find the fitbit to connect to it. It then says that they are connected, but when I got to the app and try to sync, it can't find the device. On the few times I can get them connected (still with no call/text notifications) it has lost some of the data (exercise minutes/heart rate breakdowns, etc). I am so tired of dealing with this and don't even know if it is the software, the app or the fitbit. I am thinking that I will return it and find another brand of fitness tracker that will actually work.

It has to be the Fitbit app because my Alta began having problems a few months ago so hubby got me the new Fitbit Versa 2 for Christmas, thinking it would solve the issues.  No dice.  Same problems with the new Versa 2.  Absolutely no improvement.  In fact, it's now worse because the sleep tracker won't work. Soooooooooo, I went shopping online and an Apple 4 is going to replace my Fitbit Versa 2 and the Versa is going back to the store.

I get calendar notifications but no texts or call notifications (only that a call is active). I’ve tried all the steps, this issue is since updating to ios13. Please advise.

Update: my phone and Fitbit will not sync at all now. I am glad I have paid SO much for a watch and little else! Fitbit has known this is an issue for some time...how is it not yet fixed?

None of these steps have worked for me. I regret spending money on this product. Fitbit must address this.

Still not working! Over 3 months without receiving text messages on my Ionic. I’ve done every recommended step multiple times and have even spoken with support several times too. This is so unacceptable. It’s one of the main reasons I chose this watch. I’ve been a loyal FitBit customer for 5 years and have purchased over 5 watches during this time. Hoping this gets resolved soon or I’m going to get an Apple Watch instead.

I have had Fitbit for many years now. I love(d) all the features and especially the sleep tracker. The notifications were such a life saver, as a teacher that transitions the notifications helped me communicate very quickly to my coworkers without checking my phone constantly. A few months ago my

notifications stopped working. I looked to the fitbit community and support and it said that Fitbit was aware of the problem and they were working to resolve it. Months later and there is no update. I’m very disappointed and now I have a really expensive watch that causes more frustration then support. I need to know if this will be fixed or if I need to find a different device. Thank you

I never do the “updates” cuz of crap like this. Soon as you update stuff stops working & Fitbit is no different. It’s probably Apple not compatible so we will all have to buy a Apple Watch to see our dang messages. RIDICULOUS

I agree.  Totally unacceptable!  I had an Alta for YEARS and it NEVER gave my a bit of trouble.  Had it so long the battery just wouldn't hold it's charge anymore.  So my husband and I both got the Inspire mainly to track our sleeping (shift work is a killer).  I have an iphone and he is Android and neither of us get our messages anymore.  Thought monster company Google would be way more concerned with this problem since buying out fitbit-but apparently not.  Way to kill a brand right out of the gate.  Big waste of time and hard earned money. Very sad.

U can call tech support but they r worthless. The support they offer is a
walk thru of ways to add notifications that havent worked AT ALL.
Best Answer

None of this works because there is no information option available in the iphone bluetooth settings because the versa lite is hung.

It is insane that you are not compatible with the latest IOS. please communicate a timeframe for this to be fixed or instructions on how to return the versa lite to you for a refund. thank you

I still do not receive text message on my fitbit charge 3.  I have tried the fix numerous times.  Any other ideas?

They aren't compatible with the new android either. Prob bc Google just
bought them. I'm thinking this will b the termination products line and
they will come out with new google backed "fitbit" lines. They refuse a
refund bc its "not defective" it's a software issue they said. Not
defective my **ahem**.

I purposely chose this device over an apple watch because I would still have the option to at least read my text message as I was able to with my FitBit Blaze.  This Fitbit cost a lot of money to not work as promised with the sale.  What are the next steps?

I have the same concerns. I don't want everyone to see my text messages on my phone, but I want the preview on my watch.
