Hello everyone!

I would like to announce that the redesigned Fitbit app starts rolling out today! This new app will help you reach your goals, and bring the health and wellness information right on hand.

Check out our latest blog for how to get the most out of the new app.

Note: Please be patient if you don't see the update right away, as it will take some time to roll out completely.

Happy stepping!

The new app just sucks. Is there a way for me to revert to the old app? Been wearing Fitbits every day & night since 2017.

This new app is horrendous.

On my iPhone I went Settings, then to Subscriptions (had to type it in to find it) and then located Fitbit.  Apparently I may have signed  up for the free trial which ends in December.  It is is EXTREMELY UNLIKELY I will be using Fitbit beyond Halloween - if that long.  Here's an idea for a scary Halloween costume:  Dress up as the new app.

Plus I read the response that Fitbit sent to Bezza Belle and it is so dismissive of anyone's concerns.  In case you haven't seen it, here it is

Here’s the reply I received from Fitbit.
“Hello …..

It was a pleasure talking with you over the phone regarding newly interface of the Fitbit app.

We've discussed the case with our team regarding this. Aside from visiting our community and providing feedback (which you already did), what we only suggest is getting used to the app.

We know that it's not the answer that you're looking for, but we've just changed the way it looks. If you get used to the new interface, you'll find it easy to navigate the screen, just like in the older version.

If you have time, you can visit this link how to navigate the Fitbit app, see: Fitbit app new interface

Hope this helps. Should you need further help, please visit https://help.fitbit.com/ for more information.

Sincerely,

…….  and the Fitbit Team

Hello all,

As Ninak66 and others have said, please give us the option to return to the previous version of the app.  Why antagonise your otherwise loyal fan base?  I have used my Charge4 since September 2021, so two years now.  Great device but spoiled by "updates" to the app.

The most maddening thing is the lack of "opt in" to an update.  If it is not broken, in the eyes of the user, then why try to "fix" it?

If you (FitBit) treat us, customers, well there is every good chance that we will upgrade the device in time either for fashion, scratched bezel, deteriorating battery life, etc.  But foisting unwanted app upgrades on us, with no provision to revert, is not the way to win friends.

Respectfully, Denis.

Some better news...

I managed to customise the App so that it displays nearly what I had before.   Some things are still out of their usual places but is now significantly better than the "coaching" option(s) forced upon me when the new App landed.   If others want to customise the opening page scroll to the right (maybe left) several times, eventually exposing a customisation screen.

I cannot find a way, however, to make the battery charge level visible as a percentage.   Have others solved this?   And a way to change the colour scheme - I preferred the orange / red theme in the "Zone minutes" display because it was easier to see especially in daylight.

Respectfully, Denis

I understand your frustration... me too! I love being able to figure out my end of the day calories. I especially like it when I have some calories left and I can tailor the snack I'm yearning for so I don't go over what I've exercised and eaten.

I'm not happy with it either!

Can you tell me how to customize the stats? I’ve been trying to figure this out for a few days now, and still can’t do it! 😢

Best Answer

Mark, it's not the same... the other estimate was using the remaining hours until midnight... this version of the app doesn't have it! Aesmaier wrote out well what we are all asking about: What is missing is what was on the main screen of the old app. That was an estimate of how many calories you had left for the entire day based on an estimated expenditure level for the rest of the day.

Yay! Aesmaier ~ you said that exactly right!!! Thank you!

I can’t seem to order/edit the tabs after my update

completed goals no longer show complete

i can’t see the battery level on the app

the “calories” tab/icon no longer shows “remaining” calories

i don’t see that any new feature was added.  The overall aesthetic is ugly. Black & white text & graphics with no updates showing daily goals completed

What was the point of the update from the user perspective? I think it’s the worst update yet

I really hate the new app I can't see the battery and I really don't notice a big change when I reach my goal which is very annoying to me. The other annoying thing is I didn't do an app update it just changed on me one day so I've had a change and I didn't get a choice.

The new Fitbit app design is really lacking. Some of the new home / at a glance data displays are nice, but the design feels so cold.
Also, I am totally missing my little confetti party I used to get when I opened the app for the first time after reaching my daily steps goal, and well as the “streak” banner that used to show above everything if I had reached my goal multiple days in a row. Those were really motivating to me not only to reach my goal but to open the app, which I assume is what Fitbit would want.

I do not like the new update to the phone - I prefer the older version.

@Oldbay - Every single item you listed as not being in the app is actually there.😊 The top page is easily customizable; current heart rate is displayed; steps update while the device is synced. It just takes a little time to learn new things.

I agree and do not like the app upgrade at all?

New dash sucks! Color matters. Grey and white is depressing. The whole format is ugly as hell! It was working just fine the way it was, why break what wasn’t broken?

I absolutely despise the new app update.  I used to be able to select a mindfulness topic to fall asleep to. Now I can’t find it anywhere. All there is is somebody trying to talk me to sleep. I don’t want to listen to someone with a strange accent talking while I’m trying to sleep. I used to listen to “rain on leaves” which would timeout and fall asleep instantly.  We now have a few useless choices. What happened to the plethora of mindfulness choices we had?
