Alta HR - Continual Scrolling of Display on Band

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

The display on my band is scrolling through time, steps, heart rate etc non -stop. After a certain period of time the scrolling stops but then the display goes blank and won’t reawaken with tapping. Will only come back on if I put it on the charger. Green heart rate monitor lights are always on even though setting is on Auto.  I have tried the reset sequence numerous times and all I get is the Fitbit logo and the battery icon— never get to the screen where the software version shows up.  Put band in rice overnight just in case there was water in battery/case. Fitbit was purchased July 2017 so it’s out of warranty.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Any remedies?

Thanks for sharing your experience.  I may be going the same way as the customer service just wants us to jump through hoops instead of replace defective materials.  Mine is currently cycling through all the screens as I let the battery drain and try again.  It started going berserk in the night, so I can't imagine that it's a moisture issue...

I let the battery die and left it for a couple of days then put it on charge and did the reset thing and now it’s working again
Customer services offered me 15% off a new one!!!
Hope you get it working again soon

I tried that multiple times and it worked the first couple times.... not any more. Thanks for thinking of me though. I’ve moved on to an Apple Watch and LOVING it.

Good luck! I did the whole reset thing and it worked the first couple of times. It would work for a while then pretty soon, the reset thing quit working. I now have an Apple Watch and LOVING it! By the way, no one from FitBit ever contacted me.

So is it dead? I can still go to my dashboard and it is reading but I don’t know how long that will work

Also having the same problem.  Anyone have a fix for it? Or is it dead?

Mine is still working after I let it remain dead for a couple of days then reset it and charged it - it’s been a few weeks now

I let my battery run down then charged it for a day, restarted it several times and it still started scrolling when I got it to do anything.  I repeated all of the above two more times (several days) and eventually it started up by showing the version number and is  now operating almost normally.  Unfortunately it seems I now own an Alta and not an Alta HR as the reason I purchased this just 18 months ago is for the heart monitor that no longer works.  I'm sure glad I didn't buy more bands for it when the 3rd one broke recently.  When the time comes I'll be looking at something that will last longer than this for the money.  Ridiculous!  Though I will say that I've enjoyed owning it while it worked and held its value.

It has ceased to work now.  It will charge and then scroll and discharge in a matter of hours.  It's useless.  Not sure I want to bother with another fitbit at all if they're only going to last 18 months without exchangeable working parts and bands that last more than 6 months.  Fitbit is feeling more like a boat purchase to me (a hole in the water into which one pours money).  Too bad and when it was working well I liked it a lot, but quality is what works for me in the long haul.

Hey mine did the same thing. I let it run out of charge completely. Recharged and it. Worked

I bought mine in July 2017 also.  This will be the third one I’ve had. I am beginning to think that they have a 2 year life span. I might be switching brands. Which is a shame because I have small wrists and other ones have faces that are too large.

Yes, same here with the small wrist, but mine only lasted 18 months. All the functions recovered except the battery life - which of course makes it useless! Getting a discount coupon for a new one is not good enough for me.

Hello!  I'm having the same issue.  I woke up this morning and it appeared that the battery was dead (although it had a decent charge the night before).  I plugged it in to recharge and low and behold it now won't stop scrolling through all the icons without stop.  I've reset it three times with no change.  Is there a fix for this?
