Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.
This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page.
- How do I set up call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
- Make sure that your mobile device is compatible with our notifications feature by visiting http://www.fitbit.com/devices.
- On your mobile device, make sure Bluetooth is enabled, and make sure your device is nearby!
- Open the Fitbit app on your mobile device and tap your tracker tile at the top of your mobile Dashboard.
- Tap your tracker tile a second time, tap "Notifications" (iOS) or "Call and Text Notifications (Android) and then turn on call/text/calendar notifications.
- To verify that set up was successful, check out the list of Bluetooth connected devices on your mobile device. Your Alta should appear.
- How do I view call/text/calendar notifications on Alta?
You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.
Notes:
- For Android users, please ensure that you've turned notification access on in your settings and enabled each notification in the Fitbit App.
- Calendar notifications use the native calendar app in iOS, and the native or selected 3rd party app on Android.
- Windows Phones do not support alerts at this time.

Still no updates to allow push notifications to be visible without my interaction the way Garmin did on their similar vivosmart band.
Having my band SHOW me when to move, and SHOW me who is calling was huge plus that I would happily give up some battery life for, there's no reason this can't be made an option and from what I understand other models DO give notice without interaction.

@SShannon If you're still experiencing issues with call notifications and have tried all the self-troubleshooting instructions here, I suggest reaching out to our Support Team and letting them know of your efforts. Once they've had a chance to check out your account settings, I am confident that they'll be able to help get you up and running.
@bfair56 We're always working to get more devices tested and added to our supported devices list. As your phone isn't yet listed as fully supported, it explains why you're experiencing issues with setting up notifications. I suggest keeping an eye on the list as once our engineers have tested the device they'll add it to the list.
@TinaTravel @audreyann @veggie59 I recommend toggling OFF and ON the Fitbit Notification Service and then setting up your notifications with these instructions. Let me know how that goes for you.
@audreyann Which mobile device are you trying to setup notifications with? Is it listed here as a supported device?
@Sky_Belle Oops! I assumed you had an iPhone paired with your iPad to receive the calls/text messages. I'm not too familiar with hwo iOS works when it comes to notifications, can you clarify what you're trying to do with the iPad?
@poosmum You can find information on Windows and notifications support here.
@dianebrat If you'd like to see that option on the Alta, I suggest voting for this idea within our Feature Request board.
@Josnz It's great to hear that you're getting the expected battery life with the usage of notifications. Thanks for the feedback!

My fitbit vibrates as a text message, but when i tap it to show, it shows the message bubble and a number. When i check my phone for a text, there are none. This has happened twice and showed the number 5 and 2. Has this happened to anyone else?

It would be nice if the Fitbit Alta display could light automatically when receiving notifications, as it is sometimes irresponsive to tapping and quick view does not work easily when it receives a notification.
Fitbit Tech Team could implement this in a new updates.

My phone is OnePlus One running Cyanogen OS 12.1.1 YOG7DAS2K1. I can receive call notifications on my Alta but not Whatsapp notifications, even though I have chosen "WhatsApp" in the "Text Notifications" setting already. What should I do?

I am unable to get my Ulta to receieve text message notifications on my Galazy s6. I am able to get phone alerts. I was previously using Message+ which I prefer, so I would like to be able to continue to use. I then switched to Messages and still am not able to get message alerts to come in. I do have notifications on in the fitbit app.

@waterfrogs I get the message bubble with a number in it when I have multiple text messages that I haven't read yet. If it's showing and you don't have any messages, try restarting the Alta and then send yourself a test message. Let me know if that helps.
@JevinCoopen @poosmum Thanks for the feedback! If you'd like that change, I recommend voting for this existing idea within our Feature Request board. The more votes the idea gets, the more likely it is to be considered for implementation in future releases.
@Tranquille @lebou1sa I recommend trying the suggestion here. That should help get the full contents of the text messages displayed on your tracker.
@shicheung I recommend using a stock rom as the text notificatons may not be playing well with your rooted custom rom.
@Shonzo Which make and model phone are you using? I also recommend toggling OFF the Fitbit Notification Service and then toggling it back ON. Here are the screenshot instructions of how to get to that setting via your phone settings. Let me know if that helps.

I'm running a windows phone. All of this helpful info is of no use to me. I'd like an update on how long windows phones still have to wait. A timeline would be nice.

@Sky_Belle To test if this is happening because of the iPad or the Alta, let's try pairing the Alta with a phone and going through the notifications setup process. Send yourself a test message from different distances to see if you get it from the phone. Let me know what you experience.
Thanks for trying out the alarms to test your vibration motor. It seems that the issue is somewhere in the settings. Can you confirm that you have Fitbit turned on in your notifications center?
@dominic.liang The Moto Plus G4 is not currently listed as a supported device here. This probably explains why you're experiencing issues with setting up your notifications. I recommend keeping an eye on the list as it will be updated once that handset has been fully tested by our Android team.
@poosmum I recommend checking out this thread in the Windows board for more information on Windows support for notifications.
@jshankara Let's try restarting your Alta with these instructions. Let me know if that helps out.
@whatnow Which mobile handset are you trying to sync with? Have you tried these troubleshooting steps yet? Let me know if that helps.
