The screen brightness on my Alta is very dim and unreadable in all but the lowest light. I have tried to reset the device but it has made no difference. Can anyone help?
Thanks.

I've had my Fitbit Alta HR for two years and love it. Over the past 2 or 3 months, the display has gotten more and more dim. I can still read the time indoors but all other data is unreadable. It can barely be read when in total darkness. It's never gotten wet. I've tried all the suggestions (reset multiple times, allow to fully discharge and then recharge) and nothing has worked. My Fitbit One died after 2.5 yrs, and this Alta after 2 years. I can't afford to buy a new device every two years so will most likely go back to a basic Omron pedometer. So sad.

My screen has also dimmed and I tried to reset and it doesn't change anything. It has not been submerged in water and has become unreadable.

I also have a display fade on my Fitbit Alta which I have owned for almost four years. I have worn it on my wrist every day and it has never been in water. Reading in daylight is impossible and also at night. The time is so dim and has got worse to the point of not being able to see the screen at all. The Fitbit is charged, but hardly able to see the charging information. From what I have read, I must now render the Fitbit unusable.

Mine went dim after three years. Once the guarantee has run out there isn't a lot you can do. I just scrapped mine and bought a new one. There may be a local repair shop in town, but I think you could be out of luck, everywhere I looked to get it repaired, I couldn't and then finally I got a reply on the Fitbit site to say there wasn't any thing to be done. But one year is not good enough, I would try and complain. If you are insured on household insurance, you may be able to claim. I've had my iPad repaired three time, so there is hope. I bought this new one and it's much better. I dont think there were made to last. If it's less than a year then it's still under guarantee

I also have a Fitbit Alta. I have the special edition gold one, so paid a good price for it. I have numerous bands that go with it. Mine also is so dim I cannot read it. I used to be able to look at it during the night to see what time it was, no longer. Now I understand why it has been discontinued, but that is really not good enough for those of us who have invested our money in the Fitbit Alta and accessories that go with it. You think they could have at least made the new ones compatible with the old bands. There should be some recourse with all the complaints that are now be brought forward and it is the same problem with all of them. I guess we live in a throw away society anymore. If they lasted forever they would go out of business like some other tracker companies have.

That’s what I had to do also, but my original was the gold one and I had numerous band for dress up times, that now are useless because they no longer off et the gold one.

hi there
i am experiencing exactly the same issue and my AltaHR Fitbit is a similar age. I have to open the screen on my phone to check the number of steps as I can only read it in really dim light. How did you go about logging the issue? Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi All,
From the phone, open your Fitbit App and open Alta HR settings within the App. Under Alta HR, select Clock Display and on top Select Horizontal instead of Vertical. Select one of the Horizontal options with bigger and bolder fonts. This can help you view the time in daylight. The horizontal view may not be easy to view though, but at least viewing time is a bit easier.

No setting for Clock display....it is what it is on the Alta HR. But, it doesn't matter now, I upgraded to the premium subscription and now my Alta won't sync...I am moving to a different watch with a different company.

I am also having the identical problem. I have not got it wet, and have been very careful with it. It is currently unreadable in any light as it is so dim. Are there any solutions?
Thank you

I had the exact same issue. I decided to upgrade to premium and it literally "broke" the software. I spent hours on the phone with FITBIT and no one could fix my Alta so that it would sync again. It was no longer in warranty, so I was given a discount on a new FITBIT. It was a decent discount of 30% off.
