Alta comes with the ability to set up and receive call, text, and calendar notifications on iOS and Android.
This post will provide instructions on how to setup your alerts so that you can see who's texting you, the content of the messages, who's calling, and what your calendar has on deck for you. For a detailed overview of alerts for Alta, please see this help page.
You can view your notifications when they come in by using Quick View or by double-tapping the Alta where the band and tracker meet.

@SShannon I'm assuming you requested the option of returning the Alta. If not, please follow-up with them to clarify what you're looking for.
@kylslondon Thanks for confirming that your settings are all set up. Try setting up a silent alarm to test if the vibrating motor is turning on. This way, we can test if it is an issue with the vibration motor. If it doesn't vibrate, get in touch with our Support Team and let them know what you've tried, they will be able to help you get back on track.
@tlong67156 Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the app?
@LeanneYanda We're working with Microsoft to get call/text notifications working with Windows Phones. I don't have a timeline to share of when that will happen.
@Purpleshrub Currently, there is no way to view previous text messages on Alta. Once it's gone, it's gone. This is feedback that I've passed along to our product team, so thank you for sharing your feedback as well.
@MLombardi47 We're respecting your phone settings, which is why you must have "Show in Notification Center" turned on.
I think your idea for reminders should be added to the Feature Request board. Make sure to vote for it as well, as the more votes those ideas get, the more likely those ideas are to be considered for implementation.
@ALUAP67 Check out the setup instructions here. Hope that helps you out.
@RaptorSVT I recommend trying @CoronaBill's suggestion here. If that doesn't work, try the troubleshooting steps listed here. Let me know if that helps you.
@HarvKM82 Check out this thread, this should help you see the body of the text. You must set the normal "Messages" app as your default text messages app in your phone and in the Fitbit notifications settings.
@sm84 Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app and going through the notifications setup again. Let me know if that helps.
@SunsetRunner @beckyb12 Yay! Happy for you guys! Thanks for the update!

I have the motorola droid turbo also. I don't get the text message when I am using Messenger+ but when I use regular messenger I do get the text on the Alta. It is too bad because I like Messenger+. See it that works for you also.

So....I was so excited to get my new Fitbit Alta a few days ago, but I am having a lot of trouble with the text messaging. My Alta will vibrate, it will say, "messaging. New message" and that is it. I bought the Alta with the assumtion that I could see, at least, some of the message. I have tried everything suggested in the post: it is paired, bluetooth is on, I have reset the Alta a few times, restarted my phone, and tried uninstall and reinstalling the app, notification are set up as messages (my only options are messaging and hangouts). I know that everything is working properly because I am getting the vibrate and saying that I have a new message, but how do I read the message without running to my phone to see what it is. HELP! Even my boyfriend, who is more tech savvy than I am can't figure it out.
I have a Samsung Galaxy S4 with 4.3.

I have a sony xperia z3 compact and according to the fitbit website, it is compatible.
I'm not able to get calendar. when i go into the device settings, it only has settings for call notifications and text notifications (and also enable notification widget.....i haven't enabled this as i'm not sure what it does).

@CarlotaG That's correct - the iPhone 4 does not use Bluetooth LE, which is required for syncing and notifications.

Hi! I went thr the steps below. I have the alta and a Samsung Galaxy S5. When I get into the notifications area of the dashboard, I have options to edit my Call Notifications and Text Notifications, but not my Calendar Notifications. I have set my calendar as my default on my phone, but it's not even showing up as an option in my fitbit app notification settings. Please help!

@SunsetRunner
You are not the only one. Galaxy S6 here and the very same problem. I tried the device with iPhone and works fine, but with my S6, no Calendar notifications. And I tried everything! Very disappointed.

Hi ErickFitbit - my Alta is great however it vibrates but no message is displayed on the screen. This is intermittent. I have notifications set for Text messages only and this seems to be working. The reminders to walk come though as well as the notification that I made my step count.
What I can't resolve is why it will vibrate with nothing showing on the screen. I check and do not have a text, etc. Any ideas?

So, I have been trying to get my texts and calendar reminders to come through on my fitbit Alta. I am getting a notification that I got a text from someone but it doesn't actually show me the text and no calendar notifications are coming through at all. I actually done't have the calendar notifications as an option under my notifications. I have tried all the posts on here with no luck. I have a SAmsung S6 with the latest software update. Thoughts?

Can you change the text setting on the Alta to show the whole text message not just the first line of the text?
