Fitbit Update: 3/6/19

Hello everyone!

We have some updated troubleshooting suggestions we'd like for all of you on Android Pie (9.0) to try.

First, turn off Background Restrictions/Limitations: Phone settings > Apps & Notifications > Fitbit app > Background restrictions or Background limits.

Then, disable battery limitations:

  1. Go to Settings > Apps > Fitbit app > Advanced > Battery > Battery optimization
  2. Change view to All apps
  3. Search for Fitbit app
  4. Choose Not optimized

Please give the steps above a try to improve syncing with your Fitbit device and Android 9.0 OS. We're still researching and testing out long-term solutions to this ongoing syncing issue. We thank you for all your patience while we continue to work on this effort.

Fitbit Update: 10/3/18

Hey Everyone!

Our team is still working on implementing a longterm fix for syncing with Android devices on Pie (9.0).

For the background syncing issue, I have posted an update in the other floated thread which you can find here

We released Fitbit for Android version 2.80 today which contains improvements for that syncing issue.

I'll make sure to keep you all updated with more information, as soon as I have it available. We're still working on this and I really appreciate everyone's patience.

Fitbit Update: 9/26/18

Hey everyone!

Thanks so much for your patience and cooperation. We are aware of the issue and working with Google on a solution.

I will continue to provide updates here, so keep an eye on this thread.

Fitbit Update: 9/10/18

Hi, everybody!

Thanks for your patience while our team continues to work on improving syncing for those on Android Pie (9.0). They are actively working on this and for the time being, I recommend you keep the Fitbit app updated on the latest version for best syncing results. Right now that is version 2.78, so if you're not on this version please update! Also, another troubleshoot we recommend is performing a restart on your phone.

When there are more improvements made in the future I'll announce them here. Stay tuned and subscribed to this thread.

Fitbit Update: 8/19/18

We have escalated these syncing issues for those who are now using Android Pie (9.0) to our team for investigation. There aren't any updates at the moment, but rest assured we will keep you informed in this thread when more information is available.

Thanks for your patience!

Fitbit Update: 8/11/18

Hi, everyone! Thanks for stopping by the Community Forums. Smiley Happy

Seems like many of you who updated to Android Pie (9.0) are now having trouble syncing your Fitbit trackers. I'm going to escalate this to our team so they can look into it.

In the meantime, please update the Fitbit app to version 2.76.1 if you haven't yet. Let me know if that changes the syncing behavior. Please follow this thread for updates. I'll keep you all posted here!

Hi,

I had the same issue when I upgraded my Nokia 7 plus to android P. I was unable to connect my Ionic to my phone since the update. After trying several workarounds, suddenly my Ionic got connected and its been a breeze since then. Everything is just fine. Its been around 10-12 days and I have no issues at all. You can try these steps. Hope it works for you and also for others.

1. Disconnect the device and logout from Fitbit app.

2. Uninstall fitbit on your phone, turn of bluetooth.

3. Go to bluetooth settings and forget your fitbit device if its still there.

4. Use a cleaning app like CleanMaster to clean all the caches or residues on your phone.

5. Restart your phone and restart your fitbit device 3 times.

6. Now the important part. Go to Settings> System Settings> Developer Options> Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log. Enable it and restart your phone again.

7. Install fitbit app, login and try to connect your device.

Best of Luck

Let me know if this works.

Thanks Prabs but no luck for me on my Nokia 6.1.

That's it I'm out. Luckily I only bought it a couple of weeks ago (and got a few precious days of functionality before Pie hit)so I won't have any trouble with a refund. It will be a long time before I trust Fitbit again.

Ironically my dear old Pebble Time (remember them? the company fitbit gutted just to get the employees?) is still rocking on Pie.

To be fair fitbit's not the only company struggling to get their app to work on Android Pie. It's not as easy as you'd think getting an app to work properly on a brand new operating system on a ton of different phones all running slightly modified versions of Pie.

out of curiosity, what other brands are struggling? I am not having the bluetooth issue with any other app running on Pie. Are these other fitness apps?

App still isn't working for my Fitbit Zip. 3 months and still can't use it. I have had to uninstall and go back to using the desktop app which isn't nearly as convenient and doesn't automatically update. I have to manually synch and even then it is hit and miss.

Are you really still trying to fix this?

That ridiculous always on notification did absolutely nothing other than
annoy me. Pixel 2XL running Android 9.0 with the Nov 5 security update and
Fitbit 2.8.2 freshly installed cannot locate my Fitbit Flex.

Android just pushed an update through, and for the first time since I bought my Pixel 3, I can sync my Zip to my phone app! Fingers crossed it keeps working.

Just triend 2.82 on Android Pie, OneNote 6, not syncing.

Very frustrating, since over 2 months no more Fitbit. My clock is wrong and no way to get it right.

We need to keep posting about the issues. This is unacceptable.

It's the 14th

I have a pixel 2 and November 5th security update. Can confirm no methods are allowing me to sync. Huge bummer as I cannot return my device to where I bought it.

@Exodin I have a Pixel 2 XL with the same FW configuration (my wife has a Pixel) and both of them are working perfectly with Ionic and Versa, respectively.

I actually performed a factory reset following the update to 9 so you might want to try.

Had some troubles with receiving call notifications on my Oneplus 6 with Charge 2. This solution worked for me:

Disable bluetooth. Go to Settings> System Settings> Developer Options*> Enable Bluetooth HCI snoop log. Enable bluetooth.

* You have to enable the android developer menu first.

Since then, i'm receiving call notifications again. 🙂

I also factory reset and have a pixel. I have an older Fitbit One, you have
a newer versa which is why you're works and mine does not. I called Fitbit
and they told me some Fitbit one does not work.

Hi,

for those users that are able to sync the Fitbit with the Android app but are unable to track a run with GPS, I have just found a solution. I have a Charge2, so:

1- open the Fitbit app, select "Exercise shortcut" and remove the exercise

2- sync the Charge2 with the app

3- on Charge2, verify the absence of that exercise

4- re-add the exercise on the app and check if the GPS is enabled for that exercise

5- re-sync the Charge2 with the app and then start a track from the Charge2.. it should work 🙂
