Hi everyone. We’re aware of an issue that may cause the Fitbit app to quit unexpectedly when you open the Exercise tile.

To fix an issue where the Fitbit app unexpectedly crashes when you open the Exercise tile, follow these steps. Note you’ll need to log back into the Fitbit app with your email address and password.

  1. On your phone, open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Apps > Fitbit > Storage.
  3. Tap Clear Data.
  4. Open the Fitbit app and log in.
  5. Be sure to accept the requests for your phone to access your location, notifications, and other settings.

Thanks for taking the time to report this issue. I assure you that our team is aware and working on finding a resolution. I will be sure to keep you all updated as more information becomes available.

Will clearing the data delete my history permanently? Or will my exercise history be restored once I login again?

If you have an android phone there is help on this community website, ie access your Fitbit App, delete data, sign into your Fitbit account and it should be fixed with no loss of info. However this doesn't work for iPhones.  Try the link below for help re iPhone Fitbit Apo or Google : Contact Support - Fitbit Help - there's an online form you can complete which will go to Fitbit Assistance - this is a community website - not Fitbit.https://community.fitbit.com/t5/iOS-App/Fitbit-App-freezes/td-p/4141156

I don’t want to clear my data. I did it about a week ago. I want to track my steps. Is there a way to get your steps info from pervious days from the Fitbit?  I know I can log the steps on a piece a paper but I haven’t yet.

Clearing all data sounds like it will delete my past 4 and half years of information and I will have to start all over as a beginning user.   If I have to do this I may as well find a different product that doesn't crash every time I open the exercise tile.

Followed this advice but it's still crashing on the exercise tile 🥴

Mine was doing the same thing, so I followed the moderator's instructions and now it's working. Hope it continues and I don't have to keep doing it as other people have stated. Never had a problem but then, the Versa just updated a few days ago and now this happened. Started on the 25th of April for me. Ugh!

Cannot understand why this is not being remedied. The fitbit advertising is useless if the exercise portion continues to crash.

I tried the clear data solution, which allowed me to open the exercise tile, but now I get a spinning circle whenever I click on any tile to view more data. Is there a solution for that?  Or just wait and it will eventually finish?

Update: I tried logging out of the app and now can't log back in. Still getting spinning circle.

Thanks

Same here- did the clear data. And it fixed the problem without losing my
past workouts.

The same is happening to me when I open the exercise tile. I see that your advice is to "clear data". I really don't want to do this as I don't want to lose all of my progress and badges that I have collected and worked so hard for nearly a year to achieve. This would be very disheartening. Is there any other solution to fix it rather than lose a years worth of progress?

Thanks to everyone that responded to my question as to whether it is safe
to clear data to get the exercise app to work. The replies have been very
varied and as yet I haven't taken any action. I am hoping Fitbit may
provide a fix. I don't want to lose any stats.

Mine doesn’t crash, instead when I press to add exercise or even see what I have done the app is unresponsive!
