Fitbit Update: 8/15

Hey all!

This week we released the option to opt-in to use the new dashboard to everyone. At this time, everyone should have received the option to opt-in already. If you didn't opt-in, we will transition everyone into the new dashboard in the coming weeks.

A reminder, after you've opted into the new design you cannot revert and go back to the old one. Read more about the new interface we've designed here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Make sure you're also on the latest version of the Fitbit app.

Thanks for your patience while we completely released the new interface to everyone. We hope you're enjoying the improvements that have been made and appreciate all the feedback.

Fitbit Update: 8/6

Hey everyone!

Thanks for all your feedback on the new dashboard design. We're still in the process of releasing it to all of our users. If you don't see it yet, you will have it pushed to you in the coming weeks! This has been a slow process for the past few months to ensure a smooth rollout.

We're currently on app version 3.3, so please make sure as always that you have the latest version of the Fitbit app

Once we've released this new dashboard to everyone, we will announce it in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 6/17

Hi Fitbit Family,

We are still rolling out our updated Fitbit app design to more users currently with v.2.95. Please make sure to update the Fitbit app by visiting the Google App play store if you haven't already. If you don't see the new dashboard just yet, you will be receiving it at some point in the coming weeks.

Thanks so much for your patience throughout this rollout. To read more about this new dashboard experience, please check this article out: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

Once this rollout is complete, we will let you all know in this thread.

Fitbit Update: 5/23

Hi everyone!

We’ve rolled out another phase of testing for the new app dashboard experience. If you’re one of the lucky people to see it before the full release, you can read more about it here: What’s the new Fitbit app experience?

We’ll continue to slowly release this to all Fitbit customers on iOS and Android. Once we receive more information on this, we’ll let you know.

Hope you’re all enjoying this new layout!

Fitbit Update: 4/24

Hi everyone!

Beginning today with app v2.92, we're excited to announce a new dashboard experience for the Fitbit app, currently by invitation only. If you are invited to opt-in, you can see the new design and try our new app experience to access all your stats and information in a way that’s more dynamic, integrated, and highly personalized.

You can read more about it in this help article: What's the new Fitbit app experience?

As with all our new dashboard updates, this is a progressive rollout. If you don't have an invitation or see the dashboard immediately, you will receive it later on.

We will update this thread with more information later, so stay tuned!

Mine automatically updated.  Don't like it.

As much as I hate to, I will probably be using the website dashboard more than the Android app, at least until they mess the website up.  It has more of the old look and feel and it sure is a lot easier to figure out where I am in hourly steps, daily steps, food intake and water consumption.

I've been updated to the new app version and I find it to be terrible pretty much across the board. Please reverse this! I don't see ANYTHING about this that is an improvement over the old app.

  • This version is far less intuitive
  • This version requires scrolling around and clicking through to dig for and interpret information that was available and understandable at-a-glance on the old version
  • It does not appear to be customizable in any way that would make it more understandable and useful, like the old one was

I don't understand why anyone would think that this is an improvement over the old app. Reducing readability and flexibility and increasing the amount of work a user has to do to get at information is not an improvement; this version is a huge step backward from the previous version. . I hope you'll listen to the community and revert this change. This is a horrible callback to when the website dashboard was changed a few months ago- the changes were so bad, and the community outcry so sustained and intense, that it got changed back again. Now here we go with the app.

I asked about pre update versions and was told they are not available

I just accidentally have the new dashboard. I want to write somewhere that I  dislike the change. Especially the activity per hour is missing. I am not embarrassed to say that I very much enjoyed the stick man who would spin around and turn green when I was active every hour of the day.

I can only sync on my kindle (old display)now as phone app  complete rubbish again. Works when it wants too and is driving me mad. Not ideal as I like to see where I am during the day but what can you do...
Really poor from fitbit....

Please consider giving us the option to use the old interface. The dreaded change was just forced on me, and I really hate the new look and layout. Everything looked so nice before, and I could see everything I wanted right away. This new scrolling list is not what I want at all!! It all blends together and I don't want to spend more time sifting and searching.

Thank you to those who mentioned old versions being out there on the web. I will definitely be pursuing that option for now. I want my tiles back ASAP.

Why is it not possible to do search in community "reinstalling early dashboard" ?

You were lucky you were given the option.  I was not.

If you do not stop fitbit app automatically updating changes will be forced on you as sure as night follows day

I did the update Thursday night.  It was late and I was multi-tasking, so I thought my first reaction of "ugh" was because of that.  It's now Sunday morning and while not a lot of time to get used to it, it was enough time to see if others were also unhappy..  Page 28 of reviews (only read last page) makes me feel like I'm not alone.

Do I think it's worth complaining.  No.  Based on open issues with the fitbit/app I don't expect anything to change.  Enough people leaving for other watches, it will be too late.

First thing I noticed was that my actual weight was displayed on the dashboard in bold numbers (I opened a topic for that, that was moved - maybe in one of these pages).  Second thing was that I had to rearrange the dashboard - was expected and had to do whenever I did certain updates on the old app.

All other complaints:

- The Mange Today Items, does not keep the Hourly Steps, Sleep, Exercise, and Weight at the top right under the Activity.  As soon as I get a new challenge, they get shifted down to put the new challenge on top.  Would be ok if challenges were what I wanted to see most

- Missing the Challenge tab.  I just don't like the location.  Maybe I will get used to it if I didn't have to rearrange my today tab every day

- Syncing and refreshing seems to take longer

- Something changed with the calorie count.  I used to know that if I did nothing (like sleep or watch tv) I would burn a certain number of calories.  This way in order to make my calorie goal, I know before I went to sleep I had to have so many calorie burned.  Friday and Saturday night when I should have been above my goal in the morning, I was behind.  Looking at the average calories per 15 minutes when I sleep, I'm not sure why

- When I wake up, I missing seeing what time I feel asleep and when I was considered awake (and the blue arc above my sleep time)  Yeah, I can click on the sleep and see the details, but ....

- Discover tab have to go here to start challenges - no new challenges, nothing new to discover

Things that still don't work:

- recently my messages have been showing that I have new messages to read.  I go to check and they are all the ones I've read.  The count goes away, I go back to the dashboard and the messages still want to be read (have not reported)

- when I try to add a new friend, under facebook all I get are no facebook friends are found (reported, no resolution)

- when creating a new challenge (or adding friends to current challenge, all my friends have no recent activity (facebook friends are empty).  This was reported back in December and Fitbit is urgently working on a solution.

I still haven't been able to meet all my goals in one day, so I'm not sure if the app celebrates with everything flashing blue(?)

This has got to be the least user friendly roll out of a major update I have seen. Clearly no one did the work to write use cases against user personas. Like people who want to make INFORMED choices!

App; Hey wanna try something new, but you can't go back?

Me: Uh no, not till I can read about it.

App: Ok you had your chance, now we won't let you try it until we say so again.

Me after reading: Hey how do I change to new look.

Fitbit: You can't, we control that and you missed your chance.

Passive aggressive much?

How about settings option call "Try new look."  That the user can control like you valued them?  Sigh.

Now I want to try it, but can't.  Sigh.

Macros are the big thing now

That would be insane to remove them.

I recently did the upgrade to v3.3.1 on my android (v9) phone. Ever since that I get a message at least once a day on the phone saying "Linking with the Fitbit app required for connectivity issues". Other than that it seems to be working ok, except this message is really getting annoying.

I'm not sure if this will help you with sleep data or not. It only took me
about 6 weeks to learn this:

Starting in Dashboard
click to log (up at the top menu)
You will see a much more familiar display
click on sleep
Scroll down below the bar graph
choose any day, on that line on the far right, is an arrow
Click on arrow
It will bring up your sleep pattern/sleep stages
This also gives you the "alleged" time you fell asleep and what time you
woke up

On the screen, with sleep stages, there is a "Learn More" option. It is
worth investigating.
To get sleep stage data you must sleep at least three hours

Hope that helps

Many many many thanks to those in this thread who recommended manually downloading to go back to version 2.87.  That fixed it -- I can finally sync again!

Next question: now how do I turn off auto-updates so it won't change itself again?

Dynamic, integrated and highly personalised.  I believe this was the description of the new UI.

Well I suppose there is an element of dynamism with all the scrolling about, but as far as I can see everything else appears the same. What exactly is highly personalised and integrated in comparison to the previous version?

All I know is that with the tiles everything pretty much fitted on the phone screen in one go and was easy to see at a glance, now it isn't.

I'm not giving my opinion of the synching everyone has covered that.

HATE the new dashboard. Was not given an option to opt out. Please tell me where I can find the setting to revert to the previous version. Thank you.
