I haven't read every post yet, but to add my experiences with this bug: mine is running red hot from CPU cycles and drains the battery  excessively. I can't really notice a raised data bandwith usage Also no crashes.
The notification centre widget gave me a lot "sync status = null".

I forgot to actually check this..  Seems Fitbit was using quite a bit of data. Even much more than Spotify... 🙄 (I already removed the app)

Does this effect set up a new charger 2 on my iPhone? It keeps saying “connecting to Fitbit....” but doesn’t go past this screen. I cannot set up my new pebble.

My wife is using version 2.73 with her Charge 2 without any excessive data usage or battery drain. We have the same phone on the same carrier. Seems to be isolated to the Versa or a subset of Fitbit devices, perhaps all with Fitbit OS.

It is an issue with the Android app.

Pebble?

Hey Guys,

I have been running Android Beta v.2.74.1 since yesterday evening with all permissions restored for background usage etc.

Since last night the Fitbit App has used 12% battery, which is a significant decrease on recent days and within normal parameters.

Mobile data use still seems on the high side to me.  I only had mobile data switched on while I was out between 09.00-15.00 and during this time the Fitbit App used 40 Mb of data.

It seems v.2.74.1 is an improvement on v.2.73, but still a way to go before I would say it is a fix for the mobile data issue.

As my super budget phone contract only has 1gig of data, I'm running the fitbit app on my android tablet w/ no data WiFi only.

Waiting for the fix before reinstalling on phone. I'll miss the text & email updates, but I suspect they may be the problem.

I noticed this on June 9th when AT&T sent me a warning that they were going to charge me if I used more data. Last time this happened the Weather Channel app was the offender. This time when I looked it was the Fitbit app eating data. I used to have my Fitbit set to sync as much as possible, I even had the mystery widget enabled. Because the Fitbit HR 2 takes a couple of minutes to sync if I only have it sync when the app is opened, I wanted it already read when I went to look at my data. I also had it set to not use cell data in background mode. That way it would only do the background syncing when I was on WiFi. It appears that one or all of the background syncing functions quit obeying the flag setting to not use cell phone data unless I've started the app in the foreground. All has been well between AT&T and I since I told Fitbit not to sync in any way shape or form in the background. It is a pain to wait two minutes after opening the app for the sync to happen, but it is better than paying AT&T even more money! I do hope Fitbit fixes this! (Though I hope even more that they will fix it so Android users can edit the start and stop times of exercises. I never remember to push the button on the HR2 at the right times!)

I also am now using the beta app, and it does seem that thing are almost back to normal...

I'm happy to have my notifications back turned on.

My Galaxy S7 was doing the same and I just got a replacement phone so I was
blaming my phone. I uninstalled fitbit app and now my phone is fine...
Fitbit more or less useless.

App is not working on the iPhone either. Nor is the Zip itself. It has not recorded, or incorrectly recorded, my steps for the past two days.

Does it affect data sync? I  changed phone, installed fitbit and added Bluetooth access to this new phone. Now I can't sync my steps anymore.

I just deleted the app and reinstalled it. The sync is fine now, but no steps were recorded for yesterday and about half of what I have done for today.

Yesterday and today I have been unable to sync at all. I reinstalled but still can't sync. Is this caused by the large data issue?

I want to return mine too but I've had it awhile. I changed my data plan
and almost got a new phone not knowing what the problem was. I uninstalled
the app and my phone is fine, I have a lot of data, and my fitbit is
basically worthless. Very frustrating.

Ok, thank you is there a way to shut down the app while I'm using data?

Hi I too had a sudden surge in my data use AND battery drain  on my mobile. Finding I have to charge my phone 3 to 4 times a day.

I have a S8+. Only owned a versa for almost 2 weeks. Do I turn off all day sync?  Or can I switch bluetooth off when I dont want syncing?  I just tried that last night and my phone batt drained overnight for the first time.

Please help

Delete and reinstall the app. Then reboot the phone. Then go to settings
and limit the data usage in background for the app. That should do. It
worked for me and now the phone works fine and no more battery drains

Go to page 13 of this thread.  There are instructions from a Fitbit employee on installing the beta version of the Fitbit app.  It fixed my issues on both battery and data.  It is a suitable work around until they fix the app in the app store.

Can you keep the all day sync and bluetooth on once all that is done?
Thanks!
