Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ Compatibility

Just got the S8+ yesterday, but my Blaze no longer receives notifications from my device. I've reset the Blaze, removed it from my account, gone through setup, restarted the phone and Blaze, uninstalled the app, and every other troubleshooting recommendation on the forums. All permissions are granted. No luck. Everything else syncs. Is this just a compatibility issue?

I was just told that my device is not compatible - after being compatible for 7 months. All due to their software upgrade. So, now, if I wish to continue using my Fitbit - I have to get a new phone.

This is so wrong in so many levels!

Thanks for the updated post.
Since my original post about the notification issues, things have gone
downhill from there. My Blaze will not even pair with my phone. The time
will not update and the Blaze battery needs recharged about every other day.
I've used FitBit for about 4 years and it is looking like the run with
FitBit may be over. I need a device that works and I can depend on.
Thanks again for your insight.

Hi Erick, any update on ETA for Samsung Galaxy S8 to get MobileTrack? I decided to get off the Apple platform and move to android and had no idea this move would ruin my workout/walking motivator, which is the MobileTrack on FitBit since I lost my FitBit One a while back. I know my One is still in the house somewhere, so I have been using MobileTrack til I find it. I really need MobileTrack to keep me on track! Please help us understand when we will get compatibility for the S8. Thanks so much!

Hi, I am now receiving notifications and it's great to have it again.

What I had to do though was go into the fitbit app on my phone and turn on notifications and allow notifications. In the last update it must have turned it off.

But it is definitely working.

Hello, everyone!

I'm happy to announce that the Samsung Galaxy S8/S8+ has been added to our official supported devices list. Thanks so much for your patience while our team tested this out for you all. There are still some kinks being worked out, so some users might still have issues with the pairing process or with notifications. Please give our troubleshooting tips a try if that is the case. I will update this thread when I have more information available.

Don't give up @vic296. It took a while but I finally got mine to pair a few days ago (it might have also worked because of a recent Samsung systems update so make sure you check your phone to see if you software is updated already before you get started).

After you confirm your phone software update try this:

On the phone swipe down from the top to get the gear link at the top right corner         -->look for Notifications--> look for Fitbit app and make sure you have the dot all the way to the right and the dot color is red (not yellow).

Then on the Fitibit app go to Dashboard--> select the box w/ lines in the upper right corner-->on the next page tap on the model of Fitbit you are using under Devices--> go to Notifications and make sure Calls is enabled, Enable notification widget, click on Text messages to select the messaging app you prefer. Then on the same Notifications page select the three little dots in the upper right corner and tap on Send a Test Notification and you should receive a test alert on your Fitbit Cat Very Happy  I hope this works for you.

I just got a working Blaze yesterday. It synced with my S8, no problem. The issue is the default android sync options appear to have it talking every 30 seconds. I listen to podcasts all day via bluetooth. Today they started sounding choppy - like watching netflix on dialup. I disabled the sync options and now the podcasts are fine. Maybe a poor sync/bluetooth implementation? I have not had that issue with multiple other bluetooth apps.

This is very frustrating. I have a Sprint Galaxy 8+ that will not connect reliably to my new Blaze. I've tried every possible combination of resetting my Blaze, my phone, the bluetooth on the phone, the app on the phone to get it to work. But notifications always come up with a bluetooth error no matter what I do. And trying to connect to the phone for GPS tracking for a bike ride will 90% tell me to check the app and 10% tell me the phone isn't found (while it's 6 inches away).

I've tried everything.   Notifications still do not work with a AT&T Galaxy S8+

I have an alta and the S8+ and I can't even get them to pair... I've tried resetting the fitbit, cycling Bluetooth on and off, restarting my phone even. Nothing. So bummed.

I am having the same issues also and am wondering why this thread is set to solved when it clearly isn't? I only just bought my fitbit and am seriously thinking about returning it if this is the problems I can expect. I am having issues when trying to sync and haven't been able to get notifications to work at all.

You make a very good point. The thread is not solved at all. It is
actually ignored by Fitbit. Supposedly the Blaze has worked for a few
people. I have an Alta and it cannot be paired to my Galaxy S8+ because
the Fitbit team hasn't resolved issue.
