My fitbit app wouldn't work with my new Samsung Galaxy S7 (Marshmellow) due to syncing issues. I just reset my fitbit (plug it into laptop/wall charger and hold button on left side for approx 10seconds until fitbit symbol appears, then unplug it). App worked instantly! 🙂

Well your personal preference with all respect has nothing to do with the issue that the s7 can't be used as a tracker.
When someone is asking why the issue hasn't been resolved half a year later, and your response is that we should all just buy another fitbit device or use a different tracking platform cause you personally hate to carry your phone with you, all you are doing is poking a beehive.
If Fitbit is going to enable some phones to work as trackers, then they should keep software up to date enough to support all mainstream best selling brands.

responded the way I did because as I understood you, you questioned why
fitbit couldn't just track from the phone. As I have told others, I kept
calling and emailing fitbit, basically just kept on their butt for weeks. I
don't know if that helped or because I have an S7Edge and they corrected
the issue with it first but I am now able to sync. I do hope that the
issue with your phone syncing gets corrected. Call fitbit, after several
calls to them they gave me a discount cpn to be used on a future purchase.
That might help should you choose to buy another. But whatever you choose,
good luck.

So you were able to use the phone as a tracker? If so please list the steps on how you achieved this.

fitbit sync? Or do you mean carrying the phone and having it actually count
steps? This may be where I am misunderstanding you. I don't carry my phone
all the time. My experience was, I had my fitbit but owned an S5 and after
setting it up, it worked fine. All the info from the fitbit went to my
phone. I rthen replaced my phone with S7 Edge and it worked for a while and
then stopped syncing with the fitbit. Ithen started harrassing fitbit and
about 3 weeks later, it started syncing again. In the meantime, per fitbit,
I used my computer to sync at least once a day and when I did that the info
went to my phone. The only steps I used were the instructions given to set
up the fitbit to phone that I used when I first got my fitbit. Again, if
you call fitbit, they will walk thru everything. I was on the phone with
them one time for over an hour. So, if you do call, be prepared, you may be
there for awhile.

When I say as a tracker...
I mean *specifically* no other fitbit device wearable involved!
I don't care if it links with computer or reports to the mobile app then
shoots off the data.
I just don't want to buy another fitbit wearable.
Other than that I don't care how my phone gets the data to the fitbit
dashboard.

devices. They never claimed anything else. There are other methods to do
what you want and fitbit is for people, like myself, that like the wearable
option. I thought you were just upset that fitbit did not sync with your
phone. That is what I was upset with. I hope you find a program that works
for you.

Sorry for the delay in updating. Firstly, my fitbit was previously syncing with my S7 when it suddenly stopped in the middle of the day. I tried all of the fixes, uninstalling and reinstalling the app, unpairing the device with my phone (which then would not pair back), and restarting the fitbit with the paper clip method. I contacted support, and they were not terrible helpful, mentioning that the device is not supported...etc. but that they were looking into it. I finally had success once I let the fitbit completely die. Magically I was able to get a bluetooth signal from it, and it paired with my S7. I was able to reset it up, and it has been back with no problems since. That said, I don't know if it was the fact that the device got a total reset from draining, or if something was done at the support level. Anyway. Good luck guys, I don't understand why all of this is going on, but Fitbit almost lost me to Samsung Gear (and I really didn't want to do that).

for the same conveniences with my phone that other users enjoy. I am
posting here to get feedback from an employee to when they will have this
issue fixed, as they have replied on this thread before.
As far as I can tell you are not an employee, and I didn't come here to ask
YOU to tell me if Fitbit was for me after having their service for years. I
think I can judge that for myself. After having to explain this topic to
you three times and you have difficulty comprehending the issue, the last
thing I need is another reply from your OPINION which has no bearing on
fixing my actual issue.
So please kindly stop replying to my posts Diamend.

Hi everyone and welcome aboard@SAR1L, also thank you for your updates and participation @Marissa3209, @Diamend100.
Note that whit this devices that are high end, specially Samsung is not that are not compatible if is not on the list of supported devices. It means that has not being fully tested to guarantee it will work flawlessly or wont present any difficulty at the moment to sync for example. I have to refer back to my friend @ErickFitbit's post. I know its been a while since this thread has been running, but regard this matter we don't have specific dates that we can share as moderators regard when the devices are tested and updated to our list.
@SAR1L what you are looking by reading your post is to use your phone as a replacements of your tracker, unfortunately the only feature that can do this is MobileTrack. Which is a feature only available for selected devices that at the moment is not available for Samsung models.

Pretty frustrating. Just got a Samsung S7 Edge. My fitbit Charge HR worked at first, then stopped. Looking online I can't believe how long this has been an unresolved issue. To not be able to sync after this long after the release of a major cellphone platform - wow - lack of interest on fitbits part. Mine is now in a drawer. Keep in mind to keep the fitbit family of products off upcoming holiday lists - wouldn't want to give a present that represents out of date technology.

I synced my Charge HR to the Fitbit app on my S7 Edge just fine this morning. However, Verizon just sent out a system update that is downloading and installing now. Afterwards, I will check and see if my Charge can still sync with the Fitbit app on my phone. I will post after I check.

To SAR1L:
I have spoken with Samsung about being able to use the S7 as a tracker for Fitbit. They do not want to do that because they have a competing fitness program, S Health, that they want you to use instead of Fitbit. This is a Samsung issue, not a Fitbit issue. So basically your options are use S Health as your fitness program to use your S7 as a tracker or purchase a Fitbit tracker and install the Fitbit app on your phone if you want to use Fitbit as your program.

This post was made back in March. Any reason why the Samsung S7 is still not available?

To All,
Thanks for the tips and comments.
I was not able to sync theSurge and the S7 Edge unless it was through wifi. Nor was I able to receive any notifications. I went through the troubleshooting tips posted earlier with no avail.
But, there apparently has been a Fitbit patch last week. Upon opening the Fitbit app, it asked me whether I wanted to update (even though auto-updating is toggled 'on'). I selected 'Yes', it downloaded, and started up similar to install a new device. It now syncs without wifi AND I receive text and phone notifications. All is good 🙂
Oddly, the S7 is not on the list of supported devices.

The issue isn't the syncing or the general use of the app/watch. That all works fine. It's just that the Blaze should work like the Apple watch where you can preview text messages and phone calls - that part is not supported with the S7. It is with the 3, the 4, the 5, and even the 6 and everything else under it. Super annoying!
