Aria can't connect to my new wifi

I recently had to change out my wifi router.  It is the exact same type as my previous router that was connected to the scale but for some reason this scale will not connect to the new router.  Oh it was a nightmare connecting the scale to the first wifi as well, but I am over it.  !!!!! I have been trying for three days.  Shame on you fitbit for putting out such subpar material.  some one needs to tell me how to fit this setup or I want my money back.  My scale is saying that it has detected the networks but my network does not appear to connect to it.  I should have bought a Withings scale. uggh.

I had my Internet company set up a second account for me with the lower 2.4. It still does not work. I get through the entire process and when it’s time for Fitbit to find my network it states selected network not found. Please try again.

Well, I have been trying for four days and at least 10 times a day. Very frustrating ....  I called fit bit and spoke to a representative who sent me an email. I responded to his email days ago and still no one has contacted me back. I wish I could get my money back!

You should be able to test the next connection with anything else that connects to Wi-Fi, phone, laptop etc. See if you can connect to the new SID with another device. The 2.4GHz netword needs to be a "B" network for reliable connections to the Aria.

The Aria works best on 2.4GHz "B" networks - if you have setup a new Wi-Fi it may be an "N" network - Try setting the router up as a "B" network.

You're a life saver! I haven't been able to connect to my home network for MONTHS! I've only been able to connect to my iPad.  It took me a while to figure out how to activate the B router but after digging on the Xfinity website I found it.  Thank you!!!

Your router must be set up to work on 2.4Ghz with the "B" network type - you will have to go to the router administration screen to set this up. Don't chose "B,G or N" - it needs to be "B" only for reliable connections. When you have done this, just setup the Aria again (instructions on YouTube) and it should work. My Aria has been 100% reliable on 2.4GHz B. "B" is slower then "N" - if you have multi-media devices like smartphones, TV's, iPads etc then get a dual band router and set the 5GHz band to use "N" for high speed access. The top speed with "B" networks is 11 Mbps which is plenty fast enough for email, web browsing etc.

I am having the same issue - after removing the battery, the scale then recognizes my previous network.  I have used my iphone, and the phone is not recognizing the scale.  It is still connected to the old network.  Why isn't it recognized?

I am using an iPhone.

I called my internet provider. They set up a dual band. One was a 5.0 and the second was a 2.4.
The Aria can’t sync with the faster.
You can only use numbers or letters in the password name.
Another person wrote that it has to be set in The “N” network - hopefully your provider knows what that means!
I hope one of these steps help you!

The Aria manual says "Aria requires an 802.11b-compatible network to connect and sync your scale data to your Fitbit dashboard." - so it does not support an "N" band router - the router must be setup for "bgn" mode to even have a chance of working.  I don't believe that the Aria support the 5GHz band.

This is insane. Wireless B routers aren't even manufactured anymore, yet that's the only network this $200 scale will connect to??

Best Answer

The current Aria 2 scale is Wireless 802.11b/g/n, it's just the older Aria scale that needs a "b" router.  Most Wi-Fi routers "support" the older protocols but often not very well and tend to prefer the higher speed protocols to make their specs look good.

What did you do differently?  I’ve been trying to reconnect for MONTHS.  I’m over it.  I get so frustrated and quit every time .  This is ridiculous. I’ve watched You Tube videos and everything .  This should not be that hard .

I changed how my router/ network is set up with Comcast so that it has a "b, g, n" channel selection. It worked until my service went out from the storm and now I can't get the scale to reconnect to the router even though it has the same "b, g, n" selection

Just some fault-finding ideas: a. Reboot the router - sometimes this helps. b. Check that the router has an Internet connection that works - can you connect to it with other devices. c. Check that the router SSID name hasn't changed - rebooting the Aria will tell you what SSID it's trying to connect to. d. Try setting the router up so that it only uses the "b" protocol, it's not ideal for other devices but that's what the Aria want to use. Routers often will "prefer" the other methods and will stick with them if another devices is requesting "n" - so "b" devices are out of luck.

Thank you! I've tried everything but the last suggestion. I will try that now and see how that goes *fingers crossed*

I only have the option for "b, g, n" or "g, n." It was worth a shot though!Screen Shot 2018-03-13 at 7.43.05 AM.png

The original Aria only uses the "b" channel so you have to go with that. What I've done is you buy an old wifi router at a garage sale and I've used it to setup a "b" only network with a separate SSID - the "WAN" connection on this old box is plugged into the house wifi router LAN side and it's worked solid. You can find old routers very inexpensively - nobody wants them any more.

Do you think if I disconnect all of my other devices from the network until I get the Aria setback up I'll have luck?
