Connectivity difficulties between Aria and Comcast/Xfinity routers

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi everyone! It has come to our attention that some users are experiencing issues with syncing/setting up Aria scales with Comcast/Xfinity routers and we are currently reviewing.

There is a workaround that has helped most users. For this, follow the instructions below:

  • Log into comcast/xfinity account
  • Once logged in,  visit https://internet.xfinity.com/more
  • Edit wifi settings under "Additional Settings"
  • Click on 2.4 frequency edit button.
  • Select g/n, hit save.
  • When the screen refreshes, click edit again, select b/g/n and hit save.
  • Stand on scale
  • Continue with the regular setup process

Thank you all for your patience. Any update available, I'll make sure to share it in this thread.

Exactly, the latest routers from Xfinity/Comcast no longer support 802.11 (b), which happens to be the one and only wireless protocol supported by the first generation Aria. Seems the only work around is to set up an old router (different SID) that supports "b" and plug it into the second port on the Xfinity router. The only device on this second network will be the Aria scale. That or simply buy a new scale (Renpho has been suggested).

P.S. Don't bother calling Fitbit, they've ignored this issue since it was discovered almost two years ago.

Again, this is wrong.  G routers can support B devices.  Just not the Comcast/Xfinity router.  If you get a Linksys router for example that supports G, it will work with the Aria.

What? You have just stated that the Aria doesn't work with the Comcast/Xfinity router's "G" protocol. Well isn't that the topic of discussion here? I believe we're discussing a workaround using he Comcast/Xfinity router, not going out an buying a new "G" router. If you don't have an old router lying around that supports "B", go out an buy a new scale, it will be less expensive than a new cable router.

Everyone keeps vaguely talking about the xfinity router. Which one? The Wireless Gateway 3 let me set up a separate 2.4ghz network on 802.11b and I got my Aria back online. My problem was that my Aria was still attached to my fitbit account and wouldn't join until it was removed so i could set it up as a new scale.

I have that same router and had no success making it work. It's a frustrating situation. Don't expect help from FitBit or Comcast. If you have not had success get a different scale. It's not worth your time to try to make this work

I switched to Renpho I see no reason to support FitBit by buying another scale from them due to their poor customer service. My scale issue is product related and they should care to fix it

Hey, I've been noticing that my Aria scale isn't setting up because of router issues that everyone has been talking about, but whenever I try to view the post that contained the workaround you spoke of, it claims my access to the post has been denied. What does the workaround do, exactly? I just got my Aria and I really don't want it to be a waste of money.

I actually do apologize, I finally managed to get my Aria to work! I simply forgot to verify all of my wifi's credentials to the Aria scale, but as soon as I did, it connected; sorry about that!

Return the Aria if you are having problems. It will not get better and the workarounds only work sometimes. It’s not going to be worth your aggravation especially when their are scales that do more and cost way less. I’d recommend RENPHO it will not sync to Fitbit but it has its own tracking app. Fitbit will not help fix the issue

Has there been any movement on this issue in the last year? My Aria will not sync, and setting my network to 2.4 ghz and B only is not an option.

After many many many tries at connecting my Aria (1) to a Sky router which does not support 802.11b, many emails back and forth to Fitbit - all to no avail, I have managed to connect Aria via an iPhone Hotspot.  This really is an unacceptable solution to a very annoying issue, but I am happy to take one success.  I will keep this forum posted of success, as I have heard of solutions that do not persist.

I will try this. However, Fitbit does state that it has to be on the
802.11b and that does not exist on the Xfinity modem/router (it's a
doub;e-duty unit).
I'll let you know if that works.

Will the Renpho sync to my Fitbi tracker/account or will I still ahve top
manually enter it? Not worth the hassle and expense of getting a new scale
if it doen't automatically sync. 😕

I'm glad I found this info but your instructions don't seem to match my xfinity page.

Sorry but my solution was specific to sky router. I have had to bypass the router and use my iPhone hotspot.

There is no b/g/n frequency available. What now? My scale has been offline for over a year -- since I switched from AT&T to Xfinity internet. Please fix this, Fitbit. Have you updated the firmware for the original Aria? If so, please tell me how to update my scale, since it will not connect to my internet.

It would work with a router that does G.  Just not Comcast's.  Do you really want Comcast watching all your stuff anyway?

I just want my scale to work. If I really cared if someone was "watching all my stuff", then I would not be on the Internet.
