Firmware version 17.8.301.8 - Resolves a syncing issue with Apple iOS version 10.2

Workout mode missing? Not a problem! Just follow the steps for adding it back

 Hey everyone! Robot Happy

We're rolling out a new update for Blaze, release notes below:

  • In addition to call, text, and calendar event notifications, thirdpartyapps.jpgyou can receive notifications from email and other third-party apps on your tracker.Common emojis also appear. Keep in mind all notifications currently on your tracker will be deleted after the update.
  • You can receive reminders to move throughout the day.
  • Five new clock faces are available. Navigate to your device settings and check them out!

This release also resolves the following issue:

  • Some users reported that auto-brightness was too dim or delayed.

Important to note: A sync is required after a manual shutdown or a battery drain in order to show the correct time on Blaze. This is especially important for your activity tracked by Blaze because you'll want to make sure it's associated with the current date and time.

Just updated my blaze and it took exactly 90 minutes (4:00 pm to 5:30 pm) and everything works fine.  I guess that a lot of people were updating at the same time which slowed down the server.  Not a problem.  I have always loved fitbit and especially the blaze.  I started with a fitbit one and then added the blaze.  Fitbit as a company is great and that is why I bought 1000 shares of the company today.

Why there is still no Cyrillic characters support in notifications within this Firmware??!?!?!

You've added some new clock views but the thing that is really needed is missed!!! Who needs this new views without ability to read notifications?!?

I am really disapointed guys of your work. And i am not along about it. There is a huge part of fitbit customers who is waiting cyrillic characters support from you for a long time already! Please read this forum carefully to understand your fault.

Cyrillic characters support is something that had to be added into this Firmware release. Please act this topic as a first priority thing to be implemented in the next release. I hope you will hear thousands of your customers finally.

I've tried to do the update twice. Both times I gave up after an hour because the update was still only one third complete. I know my broadband isn't the problem. I don't know what to do now.

Interesting that yours took 90 mins for a 10 min update. Mine was one third complete after an hour but wouldn't progress any further. I've tried it at different times of the day but it didn't make any difference.

Why in the world do I need to sync the time on my watch with mobile app everytime I switch the watch off. Does not make sense, please dont placate me by suggesting that it is a feature or there is method to the maddness. This is akin to your car dumping all fuel on the road when turned off and the only to rersolving it is to take it to the petrol/gas station.

What is Fitbit going to do to resolve this and when?

I have thought of a new name for company and it ryhmes with FitMan Frustrated

******************JUST FOUND THIS EXPLANATION**************************

Don't know who thought this was good idea to implement and approve this update.

**************************************************************************************

Version 8.301.4

Also note the following behavior changes:

  • You must now sync your tracker after shut down to see the correct time. In other words, if your tracker runs out of battery or if you manually shut it down, you must sync it after it turning it on to see the current time.
  • An issue with the Brightness setting has been repaired.

Why do you keep switching it off? Mine hasn't been switched off since the day I bought it.

Admirable questions and suggestions, but each to their own as they say, I never wear mine when showering or dont wish to damage watch when delving arm deep into engine bay where it might catch and get damaged.

But in all honestly Fitbir really need to adress this issue.

Agree. Does not make sense that the watch needs to sync to keep time. Defeats the object of it being a watch then. Checked it out today for the first time. Seriously does not make sense. Anyway.

Manual sync after hard manual shutdown or battery drain to sync the clock really sucks.. this was working fine on the previous release.. from my point of view this is a bug and this needs a fix.. i sync my device once a day and when i go to morning walk i dont carry my phone.. i bought blaze to make sure i dont carry my phone.. now its another task to sync before going for a jog as i shutdown my blaze everynight

Now, that’s actual investment! 15k$ worth? Wow. Talk about putting your money where your mouth is.

Of course, one can buy stock without enjoying the products, as long as one trusts that the company’s prospects are particularly good.

Never made a comparable investment (or any significant investment on my own). Still, would also qualify myself as confident in the corporation’s future, at least in the short run. Not because Fitbit is in so unique a position. But it’s clear that they’ve been able to capture something which should generate revenue for a while. Also, there are reasons to believe their data could be even more valuable. People talk about data as “the new oil” and there’s much to Fitbit’s data story if the company treads carefully.

But, again, I’ve never invested in the stock market and would never take my own advice about it. Man Wink

So, it’s interesting to know that a Blaze user has decided to put the equivalent of half the median US individual income in the company we’ve been discussing in contrasted terms.

Thanks for letting us know.

A few other points about the new features…

  • Activity reminders are pretty neat, but they only display something when we have yet to reach a goal. It’d be neat to have a way to tell, at a glance, hour many hours already qualify as active and have a visual indication of how far along we are, for the current hour.
  • The character set supported by notifications is quite limited. For instance, some emojis display monochrome versions while others are just boxes. (And it sounds like there’s a strong contingent requiring Cyrillic support, ASAP).
  • As has been said multiple times, the “Moment” face is very useful. Which makes it surprising that the time’s red colour doesn’t switch based on anything. It’s such a strong visual message to have those red digits every time we look at the main face that it almost feels like it means something bad about what we’ve done. (If it’s the case, wonder what’s needed from today’s stats. Did miss my sleep goal and one out of nine active hours but all of my other goals were met.)

So, looking forward to 17.8.403.6 (or whatever number the next update will have). Hope it’ll be a delightful surprise, exceeding expectations we didn’t even realize we had.

Same here. Update starts from phone app but it fails on watch within 30 sec, try again from app, again watch says fail. What is happening??
