Extended Notifications for Blaze

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

More notifications are here!

You can now receive notifications from email and other apps on your Blaze! Common emojis are also supported. Please keep in mind that you will need to have the latest Fitbit app version as well as the latest Blaze firmware update (17.8.301.7).

Using Notifications:

When you receive a notification, your Fitbit Blaze vibrates. Depending on the type of notification and your mobile device's operating system, the following information may appear on your screen:

  • Phone call—Caller's name, if in the contacts list on your mobile device, or phone number.
  • Text message—Sender's name (if in your phone's contacts) or phone number, and the contents of the text message.
  • Calendar event—Name, location, and time of the event.
  • Email—Sender’s name, subject, and contents of the message.
  • App notification—App name and contents of the message. App-specific icons may also be displayed.

Keep in mind your tracker can only display notifications from third-party apps if you already receive notifications from these apps on your paired iOS or Android mobile device. Make sure notifications are turned on for these apps in your mobile device's settings, and in your Blaze's device settings.

You can see all your notifications by swiping up from the home screen. You'll see previous calls, texts, calendar, email, and app notifications as well. You may delete these notifications either individually by swiping right, or all at once by scrolling down and tapping "Clear All" on the display.

I was so excited when I received the latest firmware (ver. 17.8.301.7) for my blaze.

So I tried to configure fitbit app, blaze and my phone (Xperia Z3, Android 5.0.2) but finally found out that I can only receive call notifications.

I also contacted fitbit support team by e-mail and got some reply from Japanese support member, and yes I appreciate that fitbit offer local support member but they even didn't know about the latest firmware update.

so their reply was "Please understand that fitbit blaze only supports call, message and calendar notification".

Please help me, I really need this extended notifications work on my blaze.

thanks for your help. I went through all the help page but it dose not work for my blaze.

I tried several phone setting and finally found out interesting problem.

My phone, Xperia Z3, has 3 modes, nomal mode, viberation mode and silent mode.

I usually use my phone in silent mode, but in this mode, only call notifications are transfered to blaze.

So I can get other notifications, such as twitter, gmail in viberation and nomal mode.

I don't know why but this woked for me and my blaze.

I've been having the same issue as @kenlpeters

I originally enabled 4 apps to send me notifications.  I wanted to remove 2 of them (Facebook Messenger and Words with Friends) so I unchecked the boxes, resynched Fitbit App and my Blaze.  It will keep my changes for maybe a day and then they are enabled again when I look in the app.

I've repeated the process several times.  Any suggestions @AndrewFitbit ?  I no longer want notifications from those 2 apps but they keep reactivating themselves.

I use Fitbit app on my Samsung Galaxy S6 edge.

@TracyV125 Interesting...that's definitely unexpected behavior. Smiley Frustrated

Thanks @TracyV125 & @kenlpeters, I'll bring this up to the team and try to figure out what's going on here.

Same issue here.  I'm going to reset my phone this week at some point, but it's been bugging me.  I can you actually add any new ones as well?  Seems to be a one-shot deal.

@AndrewFitbit Here's some more details to pass along hopefully to help your tech team pinpoint the problem.....

I restart my phone (Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge) every morning after pulling it off the charger.  I've found in the past that this was the best way to keep my phone and my Blaze communicating.  By doing this I no longer had problems with not receiving text messages or starting a GPS run on my Blaze.  Doing this kept my phone and Blaze happy so I've been doing this for months and it resolved those issues.

But....restarting my phone causes those 2 third party app notifications that I keep unchecking to reappear every morning after my phone restart.

Thanks for passing this along.  Hopefully my discovery of when they reappear helps your team!  I'm loving the new update.  It was well worth the wait!

@TracyV125 if your on Android try clearing the Fitbits data, otherwise try logging out, then back in on the app.

@AndrewFitbit I can confirm that on Android in selecting an app - rebooting. - does reselectvthe app.

In selecting the app - logging off / logging in - the new settings does stay as selected.

I've been reading this thread and never tried, partially because I did not know what type of phone.

@Rich_Laue and @AndrewFitbit I just cleared the cached data, synched, logged off, restarted Blaze, restarted phone and logged back in.  Same 2 unwanted apps are back to being checked.

It was worth a shot.  Thanks for the suggestion.  The only reason it's annoying me is one of the apps is Words with Friends and some of my friends are playing while I'm sleeping.  I don't want to have to remember to turn off my notifications every night.

😞 sorry @TracyV125 it looks like some troubleshooting is needed.

I'll assume your running Marshmellow. I have a long shot suggestion if yo want to try.

Change the setting, exit back to the dashboard, then kill the app through the applications settings on the phone. another idea would be to uninstall Fitbit after resetting the apps. Now install the Fitbit app fresh.

It's a long shot but it's all I can think of.

@mochi123 I don't see that listed as a compatible device, but it looks like it worked for @tvhc with a different model.

Same issue here. I enabled about 12 apps originally but decided after some time that the amount of notifications I was getting were too high.

I disabled the applications but, every day, they re-enable themselves.

I've disconnected the tracker from the phone, connected it to another phone and they still re-enable. The only conclusion is that the tracker is holding the data or the account is.

I upgrade my blaze and I have a big problem whit my phone call notification I recibe all notification but I never get my phone call is a problem with my phone or is a problem software or app please I need help thanks

@joelmanuelq it's most likely an issue on your app.  In the app go into the Blaze settings and make sure you have call notifications turned on then sync.  Mine is enabled with call notifications from my contacts on my phone.  I also have the Android app.

@Rylan I'm not sure exactly what finally worked for me but I did this a few times:

Unchecked the boxes, synched app, restarted Blaze, then logged out on my app, restarted my phone, logged back in to the app.

It didn't work the first time I tried but I think the first time I logged back in before restarted my phone.  So try the order I listed above.
