Wow, the highest level of support is SO unhelpful. I wonder if any news station is aware of this issue or newspapers or Consumer Reports. I wonder if having national coverage of this Firmware update breaking our FitBits would make a difference in how we are being treated.

Yep, I agree. I can't believe they don't have a rollback or fix for the issue by now for all the users with broken devices after the latest update.
Anyone thinking about buying a Fitbit device should beware! If Fitbit can't get their act together, their devices are not worth using... especially when they rope you into a yearly subscription fee on top of the cost of the device for the advanced features (now mostly rendered useless since it won't hold a charge...).

Well amazingly, replacement fitbit arrived today!! Setting it up and get the ‘an update is available’!!! NO, no for the love of all things….NO!!! Do not install, do not update, do not press that button!!!! 😂
here’s hoping they bring out another new firmware update soon to override whatever went wrong with the last one.
Good luck fellow fitbit’ers!!!

If Fitbit would like to restore credibility, they would send out replacements with the latest firmware installed and test them to make sure that they hold a charge. The public shouldn't act as their guinea pigs. My wife and I both have Charge 5s with 171 installed... mine has the battery problem, hers does not. There is some difference that Fitbit should be able to isolate and correct.

@jabob That’s just talking about the “update” not new watches and I wish they’d stop saying there are fresh new faces when all the 5 got was ONE 😂

My Charge 5 stopped syncing AFTER I installed the most recent firmware. The device communicates HR, calories, steps; sleep seems to be the only metric not updating/affected by the inability to sync. Updated the clock face, tried restarting phone, Fitbit (digitally and through cable), tried syncing by swiping down and within device profile—still will not sync. I think you have a glitch in your new firmware. My device was fine prior to updating the app and firmware.

Same for me. Exact same problem for a new one and it won't stay connected and won't update

Charge 5 not syncing, not updating not working. There are a lot of negative issues here and all one way traffic from consumers. Nothing from Fitbit to acknowledge or rectify the issues we have. Having tried all solutions, nothing, Suggest we all go to social media and give out stink. HEY FITBIT!! Respond to these issues

I don't necessarily think the update caused the syncing issue. My Charge 5 has quit syncing and I have not yet updated the firmware. Right now, I can't sync or update.

I think my Charge 5 spontaneously started doing the update one day while I was in the gym. My cell phone was pretty far away at the time. The update didn't finish but my Charge 5 had the black screen.
I tried the reset but no luck. A couple days later, my app told me of the update, so I clicked to install it with both the C5 charging and the phone charging.. The update went thru. The FitBit still had a black screen but seemed to sometimes sync to the app. I did the reset again a couple of times and the screen came back. Battery wouldn't stay charged after the update though.
