The only thing that worked for me was to leave it alone until the battery drained. Once i charged it, it has worked fine since. I know its not a good solution since I didnt use it for days but, there you go...

Update: The plug-in-and-reset solution only worked for me once. It failed to work again last night. Syncing is still a persistent issue, even if I occasionally get a win.

Based on the comments from others, and the evasive and unhelpful experience many have had with FitBit customer service, I now suspect that FitBit is intentionally removing app compatibility for the no-longer-available One devices. Such a terrible customer service move! Disappointing.

Back to plug in and restart to get my One to sync this morning, so with the new dashboard screen, still have to reset it, guess this is what it is for now.

Does it sync with your dongle on the laptop?

The fix worked, temporarily. Now the Android app is back to not detecting One. I'm wondering if this issue is unique to One devices or if other devices have the same issue? Maybe FitBit wants us to upgrade our One devices to something else and are dragging their feet on resolving the syncing issue?

I really wish they would sort i have friends that have other fitbit an even though they may have more features I feel the one is more accurate..

Mine doesn't. It doesn't recognize the One at all. The only way to sync is to restart either the One, my Android phone, or both.

I wondered the same.... if this is a way to get us to buy a new Fitbit.  I love the one--don't want to wear a Fitbit watch. And it seems the only other Fitbit with a clip is the Inspire.

Hi Cathy,

As you know there is a lot of activity from One users about the syncing problem.. I haven’t had time to respond to most - just too many and I’m not very techie which doesn’t help.

Anyway, I am wondering now if maybe some of the older Ones are the Fitbits with the most problems. I think I have a 2015 version and it’s been syncing just fine with my cell phone and with my MacBook Air for the past week or ten days. I’m hesitant to say that for fear the syncing gods will punish me like the others.

I wish I could be of help but I don’t think there’s much I can do.

I did hear that Fitbit is soon going to offer some kind of enhanced super app that may cost $10.00 a month. Maybe that’s where they are heading - asking for a ransom in exchange for syncing.

zooooom--my Fitbit one was bought in 2017. It hasn't been syncing with either my Android phone or MacBook Air unless I restart the One or the phone or both. So, I don't think it's an age issue.

Nice idea, though.

Thanks Diane,

So much for the older Fitbit One theory. I hate things that don’t make sense and all of this just doesn’t. I guess it’s just a bits and byes thing and with all the updates and everything we each end up with a different combination of stuff. Some combinations work and others don’t. It comes down to our world just being too complicated anymore. I hope your issues are resolved soon because I understand the frustration and disappointment.

So I tried all the ways to sync fitbit one and finally got it to work.  But, unfortunately only for a short period of time.  If I want to sync I need to do procedure multiple times a day. I don't have access to do this all day.  How can I get it to work like it used too?

Mine is older than that - I added it as a new device to my phone - reset
It for 12 sec and didn’t lose any data and working fine since then.

Mine stopped syncing about the time the new app was announced even though I chose not to install it.  I've had to plug the )#)^&^ in, restart to get my data to sync.  I, too, don't want a watch of any kind.  I bike and use Garmin Edge for biking, but put the One on my shoe when I bike so that I can "track" relative amounts of exercise from week to week.  I'm glad I'm not the only one having this issue, but sad to see that Fitbit seems to be the cause of the problem.

While the Fitbit One does seem to be discontinued, the Fitbit Inspire tracker has a clip accessory that turns it into a Fitbit One: https://www.fitbit.com/shop/accessories/inspire-clip?color=black  I expect Fitbit to continue first class support for the One or provide a discounted Inspire.
