One Availability and Alternatives

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Though Fitbit One is a popular product, as we introduce new products, we occasionally make changes to our product line to keep you on track with the most up-to-date health and fitness tracking tools.

As a result, we no longer sell the One. We recommend considering the other discreet options we offer- Fitbit Zip, if you prefer a clip-based tracker or Fitbit Flex 2 if you prefer a slim, wrist-based tracker. Or, take our quiz on http://www.fitbit.com/compare to see which device meets your needs best.

Please note that we will continue to support the One and, if necessary, provide replacements for devices in warranty.

We do know there are many fans of the One who would like to discuss alternatives and have created this thread for discussion and merged a few posts together. Please keep in mind Community Guidelines when posting.

At this time, feedback has been shared on the One status and there are no plans to bring this particular tracker back at this time, we will not be able to comment further.

We apologize for any inconvenience and hope we can continue to provide you with Fitbit trackers you love and help you reach your goals.

I had owned the standard wrist mounted Fitbit but unfortunately I was extremely allergic to some component(s) of the elastomers used to create the wrist band. I was first told that no one had ever reported such an allergy. I received feed back from several people who verified my allergy experience as they too experienced blood blisters under the wrist band, a typical contact dermatitis. Fitbit probably never bothered to test any of the band components for an allergenic response. They were showing the same bull-headiness then, as they are with the Fitbit One being dropped with no attempt to study any possible problems derived from management’s decisions. To fire the klutz, who makes these decisions, after the fact, will not help Fitbit keep their positions in the market place.

To continue with my story, I moved to the Fitbit One using the Fitbit Sleep Wristband for Fitbit One Tracker. That stopped my allergic response. I soon became aware of another problem with Fitbit products. This time I decided it wasn’t worth the time to complain about it to Fitbit.

The wristbands will only last for a few months before they start to delaminate to the point that they are useless and must be replaced. It appears to me that a stretchable stiching along the edges of the band could be added in the construction of the band which would slow down or possibly eliminate the delamination all together. As the Sleep Wristbands are usually under $20, I just buy about a half dozen of the bands when I order knowing that I will be throwing them away in the near future.

They might even improve the fabric adhesive they are using so that stretching the band when putting it on would not allow such easy delimitation.

I would suggest that Fitbit add a “quality control” section to its corporate structure if they intend to stay in this business.

As always, good luck to all of us that love our One!

@SPL-BR  I have found the Garmin to be quite accurate for runs (in steps, calorie count and active minutes), but mixed results for other exercises (walking, elliptical, zumba) and counting the general steps in the day, especially with calorie burn estimates. Have you compared any other types of workouts? What are the totals at the end of the day? Not just steps, but calorie estimate and active minute count? I like to look at all of it! 😉

I was disappointed to hear the one was discontinued. Like many users, I started with the zip and upgraded to the one. My one has been having intermittent issues and I think when it dies I will just quit fitbit. Why? I already tried and didn't like the zip and upgraded to a better model and I would rather wear a pretty watch or bracelet that I own over a rubber bracelet or watch. At at first I couldn't imagine going without fitbit but it was having problems during a recent vacation, as seems to be the case lately and I went without it. The world didn't end. I'd happily buy another one. But since that's not an option I'm likely to just quit when my one quits again.

My One has been working well again, thank goodness, and a charges lasts about a week.  I get notifications when the battery is getting low.  But my clip is coming apart again, I've  generally had to get a new clip once a year.  Well, no longer sold on Amazon except at silly high prices (far from the original $14 price), and I called Fitbit to see if they could sell me one, but no, they don't have them any more.  I felt so irritated and told them so, that they sell a product that they don't even support any more two years down the road from my purchase.  My parting comment was "And you expect me to buy another Fitbit product?  Their comments about changing and expanding their product line doesn't interest me.  I sure wish some other company would pick up the loss of the One and reate a similar sized product with the same functions. In any case, I got to seemingly similar clips on Amazon, two for $10, so hopefully they will be OK.  Ratings were good for them.  Meanwhile, I plan to keep an eye out for other products as I have less than zero interest in anything Fitbit makes now.

I've been getting new clips from amazon for several years, instead of the
overpriced fitbit kind. And the secondary market ones are far better.

Which specific ones have you tried that are good?  I saw a lot of different ones on amazon and just ordered a pair for $10, but don't know how good they are as they haven't arrived yet.  What I ordered had over 200 positive reviews, so I'm hopeful.

I don't remember the brand, but they have bright colors so I don't misplace
it and they have all come with a band to keep the fitbit in place.
Although, I also put stick on Velcro inside, and have a clip on leash as
insurance.

I'm another FitBit customer who loves my One, wants to continue tracking my sleep, and is not interested in a wristband tracker. When my current device stops working, if the One hasn't been brought back or sleep tracking hasn't been added to the Zip, FitBit will lose my business.

Any idea what (second choice alternative )you will get?

Hi CMCM,

I have used a bright colored  Amazon ones for two years or so.

Works well and I can see it!

Not sure yet. Friends are encouraging me to get an Apple Watch, but I don't like wearing a wristwatch, and wearing it as a pocketwatch or pendant would make it harder to use for other purposes.

I'm already wearing a watch so that would be redundant. Also seeing the wrist band devices they have, with the flick of a wrist, illumination that draws attention. Also one device had a colored glow below the device at the wrist. It was a distraction to me.

Isn't Fitbit making life great for us?

Best Answer
Yes! That's why we love the one, and it's so dumb to discontinue it!
Best Answer

Yes, yes, yes!!  FitBit One was supreme.  The Zip doesn't have any of the functionality and also doesn't work well.  I had it before the One.  And if you can't wear something on your wrist at all times or even most of the time, then you have no other options.  I have been a loyal customer for 6+ years and I am very disappointed.

Please let us know if you find an alternative.  I purchased the alta for way more than it's worth, and have already lost it due to the fact that I am also unable to wear things on my wrist for much of the day and for the majority of my exercise (ever sparred in martial arts with something on your wrist? Officially, we aren't allowed to wear jewelry of any kind, but the One was still great and allowed where the Alta is not). I was just putting it into my pocket, but then it got lost being moved between pockets and backs and different activities.
