Hi @FBsue! Thanks for coming back and for trying to write a suggestion as I recommended. I apologize about the link, I've corrected it. Please continue. Let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.Robot Happy

Welcome to the Fitbit Community forums @Chel09! I'm sorry to hear that you have syncing issues with your One. I appreciate the fact that you tried some troubleshooting. Can you please check that you did the steps on the article: Why won't my Fitbit device sync? If this doesn't help try to delete the One from the app and set it up again. Hope this helps! Woman Happy

Performed what you suggested several times but failed.
When I plugged in charger with One and push the button, shows only 'fitbit 6.64' with full battery. And then no action, dead.

And today I thought I would buy a new Fitbit with 25% off but they will not offer the discount on the Fitbit Inspire HR which is the only one that can come with a clip. So much for customer loyalty.

And no, my Fitbit Canada store does not have the Zip available. I hate feeling like Fitbit doesn’t care about there customers anymore.

Definitely a software update and Fitbit is trying to play dumb like we don't know what's going on.

Fix the issue Fitbit. Stop being stupid

If people think it's just the "Fitbit One battery dying" and not a Software update issue, I have a bridge to sell ya CHEAP yo

The same thing happened to me. My fitbit One worked find yesterday and today it won't turn on. Just a blank screen. When I plug it in I see FITBIT 6.64 and full battery.

Correlation isn't necessarily causation. It's possible the firmware update put additional strain on the one batteries, also these batteries drop dead after a few years. I had the same issue of only displaying the false full battery and firmware only when charging and not turning on otherwise. Following replacing the battery, I'm running the 6.64 firmware, 10 days since replacement, and it's still showing >50% charge. I'm not planning on running it completely empty, though curious how long I'll get out of the new battery. Since these ones are all out of warranty and Fitbit doesn't sell a comparable unit, I highly recommend opening the tracker and installing a new battery. What do you have to lose besides a $12 gamble? Installing does require very basic soldering (install worked perfectly and this was my first time repairing using solder gun). There's enough existing solder to simply warm it with the tip of the iron for a half a second or so to remove the old wires and the same in reverse to add the new ones. You just have to be careful trimming the length properly so it fits back into the case. I purchased mine from eBay, and have seen two models on AliExpress, and as another user demonstrated, other Fitbit batteries like the charge can work as well. Unless Fitbit magically begins offering service on these nonfunctional out of warranty ones we're all so attached to, or a service center pops up to fix them, self-repair is our only option. Cheers!

@Williger Where can I get the replacement battery? How to open One to replace battery?

@FBsue Simply run a heat gun on low or a hair dryer on high around the outside edges of your One for about 5-10 seconds; enough to warm the glue but not heat the circuitry. Once the glue is loosened, you can open the case using your fingernails or a small blade. I'd used a small swiss-army-style keychain knife, inserted near the charging connections and just pried it until it opened. The batteries can be purchased from eBay and AliExpress as mentioned, click search for Fitbit One battery. Cheers!

When I spoke with customer service they stated that the problem was NOT the battery and confirmed the battery was fully charged. They said my Fitbit was "just old".

@Williger After replace the battery, how to attach back to be assembled? What kind of glue(?) do you use?

As I posted, my One shows only 'fitbit 6.64' with full battery when I tried Restart and then no action, black, dead. This happened right after installed updates 6.64. Do you think it is battery problem and can be fixed if battery replaced?

What helpful article?

My one no longer works on 6.64 - my surge will also not update.

You understand a fitbit is a large percentage of my wages - and your equipment no longer works, with little help from fitbit.

What are you doing to resolve this and should I ask for a refund on every piece of fitbit tech I own?

Will you even respond to this message if fitbit clearly have no concern for their customers.

I see hundreds of posts with exactly the same problem. When will this be fixed?

@FBsue the tech notes about 6.xx updates specifically mention changes to how the battery life works (though there isn't much detail about what they changed). Like everyone else, my battery died running 6.xx firmware, though my *new* battery rocks over 2 weeks with the 6.64 firmware. Appears it makes old batteries run worse and new ones run better? 😛 The answer is probably in deleted posts from this "forum available for customer-to-customer support but isn’t actively monitored by Fitbit Moderators" 😉 LOL

It would seem Fitbit wants to phase out the One completely and that's just poor customer service.  Fitbit is encouraging me to seek out other options since they are not trying to play nice in the sandbox with its customers.

Aren't warranty policies based on defects and not upgrades?

Best Answer

I don’t think that they are admitting that their upgrade caused this problem.
