Fitbit Update: 8/14
Hey all!
Today we have completely released (out to 100%) this new Charge 2 firmware (22.58.0) to all users. This means everyone should now see it available for download in the Fitbit app. Please update to this new firmware. For instructions on how to complete the update, read How do I update my Fitbit device?
If you come across any difficulty updating, read Why can't I update my Fitbit device?
We've included bug fixes and improvements in this new firmware and always recommend having your tracker up to date, including the Fitbit app on the latest app version.
Fitbit Update: 7/24
Hi everyone,
We’re excited to announce a new firmware update for Charge 2 (version: 22.58.0).
We've begun releasing this new firmware to customers. This is a progressive rollout which means everyone will receive it at different stages until it has been completely released to all users. We roll out releases in phases as a cautionary measure so that we can monitor performance closely and make adjustments if needed.
*Firmware releases are not distributed based on region or location and can reach anyone no matter where you reside. We do not recommend performing a factory reset to force the update to your device as your data will be lost and you may not get the update. Please be patient and wait until you see the update banner inside of the Fitbit app to begin the firmware download.
WHAT’S NEW AND FIXED
This release includes other bug fixes and improvements.
HOW DO I UPDATE?
Step by step instructions for updating your Charge 2 can be found here.
If you run into any trouble updating your Charge 2, I recommend reviewing these troubleshooting tips.
Looking forward to hearing everyone's feedback on the latest release. If you have any questions, feel free to let me know!

I can't install the new firmware upate. I'm trying to succeed the updte for 4 hours now, without success :(.
The reboot of my Charge 2 didn't help, so now I did the fabric reset, again no success.
Can anyone help me with this problem? Or did you have the same issue?
My patience is running out as the same is my battery of my phone.

Here's another report of Sleep Stages not working. Since the update, the past two nights only have the basic data. Also, interestingly, the graph is completely screwed up. It seems like the logged time (which is correct in the lower half of the screen) is 2x the amount actually slept.
During the first morning sync, while the app says 'Analyzing Sleep' (or whatever the exact text says), two observations.
1) It takes much longer - 20 to 30 seconds. It used to be only a few.
2) all main icons (steps, floors, miles, cals and mins) and their circles, all flicker. (New GUI)
Usually your releases are solid (in my experience) Not this one.

Oh, forgot to mention last months app update that caused scores of Ionic smart watches to experience catastrophic failure. Mine was completely dead other than a red "X" on the screen. It was eventually revived with a later firmware update. Again, there is hope...

So sorry I pressed the update - hate the layout and not being able to choose what metric I see first - it’s very slow too 😞

My wife and I both have fitbit charge 2.
Both show the current firmware version as 22.22.55.2
There is one difference. Her Charge 2 does get notifications for phone messages. Mine however has never worked. As I see below this seems to be a common fault these devices.
We have both been nagged to upgrade them.
For several days we have tried and each time it fails.
I have tried clearing the cache and storage space and deleting the software form my phone. I even removed the device from my account and then started afresh.
The update just does exactly the same. And fails repeatedly.
Then if I go to the snyc screen in the phone app it tells me there is Bluetooth issue.
Any assistance to rectify both the issue of our devices not being able to update and to resolve the inability of my device not being able to get text notifications would be great.
I am currently considering switching to another brand of fitness tracker as these seem rather poor in operation.

We have 5 Fitbit Charge 2 in family paired with various phones:
OnePlus 5T
Xiaomi Mi 9 SE
Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5
Oneplus and Redmi devices were able to update tracker to latest firmware without any issues whatsoever.
However Xiaomi Mi phones always failed with tracker update with exclamation point.. Reset of tracker or app did not help at all.
I had to log in in OnePlus/Redmi devices to successfully perform update for these trackers.
Quite interesting and lame from Fitbit to have these kind of Bluetooth issues all the time with various phones..
Most interesting was, that Mi A2 Lite and Redmi Note 4 share same chipset, but Mi A2 Lite is Android One phone so I would not expect any issues especially there, but still thats what happened.

Had some problems on initial update. Watch showed "!" error twice but rebooted.
Contrary to everyone else, watch is working great afer update.
Accurate sleep data, same battery life as previous. (15-20% loss per day).
I use it for texting, HRM, Timed Interval Training, MTB, Hockey exercise tracking...
Probably going to a Charge 3 soon. Best of luck to everyone.
For people with problems, I'm wondering if there is a way to reset/reboot/reinstall the updates?
Best of luck... Dom Cioffi

Same problem. My Fitbit Charge 2 is officially dead and won’t hold a charge.

Hello. I updated my firmware on Thursday and since then (the last two nights) my sleep details are not logging. 🙁

This issue is not for the fw upgrade. Same here, without upgraded fw

I can't install too. Just starting to update and after some seconds or minutes an exclamation mark is shown on charge 2 and the process starting again from the begining.

Same but maybe that's a blessing with everyone who's updated having problems

If you are having difficulties updating your device please check these suggestions. Make sure your device is charged before doing this.
For the ones reporting that your device isn't reading your heart rate I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device.
Finally if your device's battery is draining quickly please check this article.
If the issue persist please let our Support team know about this.
Keep me posted.
Fit Bit these Articles are not going to fix the problems caused by the faulty firmware update you pushed out to your Charge 2 watches. This update needs to be pulled and you need to come up with a new firmware update that address the issues with the Charge 2 watches that are currently not working properly due to your bad firmware update. You also need to replace the out of warranty charge 2 devices that you have permanently bricked due to your bad firmware update. I would advise users not to install this firmware update. In addition Fit Bit needs to pull and acknowledge the issues with the released firmware update.

Just updated my firmware earlier today and it zaps the power very quickly. When is the plan to roll out a fix for this? There is a bug with the version which I understand, being in the software space as well, so just need to know when the fix is coming out because plugging in my fitbit to charge every hour is not a sustainable workaround. Is there a way to reset to the factory settings to get around the issue? The way I see it, fitbit needs to do a few things to address the issue:
* put an alert out for the users about the issue
* pull the firmware that's causing the issue till an appropriate rollback or fix forward is available
* provide a replacement or device or an equivalent value to either buy a new device or get the eqaul cash back value for devices returned (fitbit incurring the shipping costs)

Sent here to look at stuff we already said we had done. Charge 2 is not upgrading firmware even after all the steps followed.
Starting to get very annoyed now with fitbits response.
Remove the firmware upgrade and start again with a fully functioning and installable version.

This time I was smart and checked the community forum before upgrading the firmware, and seeing all the new issues it introduced and the old ones that weren't addressed, I think I'll skip it.
I've been with Fitbit almost 3 years and have learned by now not to put much faith in them. The Charge 3 was a disaster and I returned it for a refund when it began to seem like they were not interested in making any adjustments, and the mobile app is so loaded down with glitches I dread using it. I've joined in with the many complaining about these issues for years but nothing is ever done.

Since I did the update, the screen in my Fitbit watch is streaky/had missing lines. It progressively got worse the last two days and now I can’t read it at all.
