Charge 2 not recording my runs accurately

Hi I've had my charge 2 for around 2 years, i run around 5 days a week and my charge has always been fairly accurate with my distance and average run/ miles per minute time. But the last couple of days on routes I've done for weeks/months it's recording my distance and average mile times as a lot shorter and slower than they have ever been. A regular 3 mile run (9.53p/mile) is now a 2.75 mile run (11.39 p/mile). Also yesterday a measured 5.25 mile run I have done on many occasions is now showing as 4.46 miles?? Completely confused as to why suddenly it's changed. I ran last Saturday with my husband we did 6 miles he records his runs on Strava and our runs measured the same, Tuesday mines was fine but yesterday and today they're out. Can anyone help? Thanks

@MaryJo50 @Richmondrunner @TanyaGordon @Runningirl60 @Phillies2K8 Welcome! It's great to see you around!

I will gladly assist you with your activity detection. Your device detects activities based on the motion on your arm. The automatic detection is a feature called SmartTrack. For example when using the elliptical machine make sure you have the moving bars so your device detects the motion and record the activity itself. The same applies to step detection. There are situations in which your arm may be still but you could be moving or walking. This may happen when you are pushing a cart or holding bars while walking or doing treadmill. For added sensitivity you can try wearing your device on your dominant hand but select that hand as non dominant on the device’s settings to make it more sensitive to movement. Also make sure your hands are moving so the device can properly track your steps. Finally you can also enter your stride length to improve the distance calculation.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks...my issue was resolved a few days ago (I wrote into chat)….the automatic step length wasn't working so I had to manually enter my stride length. Seems to be better since but have automatic stride turned off.

Thanks guys. That could be the answer. I had a new hip 3 1/2 weeks ago - which is why the walking is so important as it’s essential to a good long-term recovery - and I’m walking properly but using crutches for support, which will almost certainly have reduced my stride. I’ll try re-setting to a shorter stride length.

@TanyaGordon @Runningirl60 @MaryJo50 thank you for your updates and sorry for the late replies.

@TanyaGordon happy to hear that Support was able to help you with this.

@Runningirl60 @MaryJo50 you can follow the instructions in my previous post to measure and enter your stride length so this helps solve the issue.

Let me know how it goes.

I'm quite frustrated today with my Fitbit ..walks are all fine. I've followed all instructions and today I've ran a league race which is measured 8 miles for standard times and Fitbit has recorded at 6.99 miles

Hi. I rest my Fitbit, then reset my stride length, as suggested by Fitbit’s help desk, and it’s been fine ever since. Though there are odd times when I’m strolling outside that it doesn’t seem to want time acknowledge I’m moving. I wonder if - like the internet at exceptionally busy times - it’s because so many people now have Fitbits the system can’t cope at certain busy times of day?

I've done both as suggested...the Fitbit is fine for everything apart from running...I ran a league race accurately measured to 8miles, not obscured anywhere by trees etc and still only recorded 6.99 miles. Gutted ..won't be buying another
