All of the sudden my Samsung Galaxy S8 is unable to pair with my Charge 2. It was working up until Thursday last week. Every fix I try has not helped...?

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @steph_iag, hope you're doing great today! Have you checked if your Charge 2 is still linked to your Fitbit account? If so, note that syncing difficulty is usually caused by a missing requirement. Verify each requirement posted below:

  • The Fitbit app is updated (the version for Android should be on 2.70 as of today).
  • Your software on your phone is up to date. To check, tap Settings > About Phone or About Device > Android Version.
  • You have location services turned on and the Fitbit app has permission to access your location.
  • If you use more than one device to sync, make sure the other device isn't nearby. If the device is nearby, turn off Bluetooth on it.
  • Your phone isn't managing other Bluetooth connections.
  • Your phone doesn't have a syncing issue listed in Which Android devices have known issues with the Fitbit app?
  • Your Fitbit device's battery isn't critically low.
  • The firmware on your Fitbit device is up to date.

Depending your Android device, these tips might make syncing easier:

  • Turn on the Always Connected option in the Fitbit app. This setting improves the Bluetooth connection between your phone and Fitbit device. Note that turning on this feature may cause the battery on your Fitbit device to drain more quickly than normal.
  • Turn on All-Day Sync in the Fitbit app. This setting prompts your Fitbit device to periodically sync with the Fitbit app but may shorten battery life on your phone or Fitbit device.

If your Fitbit device still won't sync, try these steps:

  1. Force quit and then reopen the Fitbit app.
  2. Go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth off and back on.
  3. Restart your tracker.
  4. Open the Fitbit app.
  5. Try to sync

Give this a shot and let me know how it goes!

I am having the same problem. My charge 2 was paired with my galaxy s8 with no issues. As of 1 week ago it will not pair. I've tried everything you suggested. I even uninstalled the app and reinstalled it.

@Amyn22084 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! I hope you're doing well! Sorry to hear that you can't sync your Charge 2 with your Samsung Galaxy S8 phone. Try going to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there. After this restart your phone and restart your Charge 2 by doing the following:

Plug the charging cable to your computer or UL certified wall adapter.
Align the contacts of the tracker with the charging cable and plug it in making sure it snaps securely.
Your tracker should start charging.
Press the button for 10 to 12 seconds.
You should see your tracker's firmware version and you can now unplug your tracker.

Open the Fitbit app and retry syncing them.

Let me know how it goes!

I have tried all of these steps - and several others that I've found online. But on "sync now" on the app, it just keeps spinning and spinning.

So frustrating because up until two weeks ago, everything was working perfectly. I changed nothing, but they no longer seem to recognize each other. I don't get texts, nudges to move, nothing...

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @wcunion, thanks for jumping in here and trying the steps provided! Please go to the Bluetooth settings on your phone and remove the tracker. In the list of Bluetooth devices you'll see the Charge 2 and next to it, this symbol "!". Hit the symbol and it will take you to the next step, once you're there select the option that says "Forget this device".

Once you've made sure about that, go back to the Fitbit app, go to the "Account" option in the upper right corner and select "Set up a Device". This should start the setup process for your device. Smiley Very Happy

If you keep having syncing difficulties, please try the following:

  • Make sure that the Fitbit app is up-to-date
  • Log out from your Fitbit app
  • Force quit the app
  • Restart your tracker once gain
  • Turn off the Bluetooth
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes
  • Turn on the Bluetooth
  • Log back into your Fitbit app

Let me know if this works for you!

Hi all, noticed many people having a sudden problem with syncing. My FitBit Charge 2 was not syncing with my phone or laptop for several days. I turned off/ on Bluetooth for both devices and reset the tracker several times with no luck. Finally, I went to my phone settings --> Apps --> FitBit --> force stop, and this seems to have resolved the issue. My alarms have synced and all the data is showing in the app via phone and laptop.

Hope this helps!

Welcome on board @Parishillwalker! Are you still having syncing difficulties? If so, I was wondering if you've followed the suggestions I've shared in this post? Can you also try what @ambercucumber did?

Looking forward to your response!

None of these solutions have worked for me. Has anyone else come up with something?

I've updated my permissions, but they never seem to stay in place. I've unlinked my Charge 2 from Bluetooth and the app only to restart then find the Charge 2 back in the app like nothing is happening. It's as if the app is just wiping everything I am trying to revert to a previous version.

Thank you! I actually found my phone hadnt completed an update. But yes, the permission settings do revert back on me. Maybe one of these two ideas will work for others as well.

I am thinking of returning my charge 2. I've owned it for a month and had 5 different sync issue. I had a $50 misfit for 2 years and no issues.

I tried every step advised. No luck. I deleted app and my phone says it is bluetooth connected to soundfit but now the app cant connect to the charge
