Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

Hi,

For 3 days I have gone through every step you have offered others to try and fix my Fitbit Charge 3. I believe everything is functioning properly with the exception of the diplay screen & bluetooth. I can't restart the watch itself, because I can't see any of the information.

I have done the following with absolutely no luck:

1. Changed clock face (5 times)

2. Plugged in charging cable, held sides of fitbit for 15, taken of cable, put it back on...etc.

3. Bluetooth turned off and back on

4. Un-installed app & re-installed

5. Deleted the device & attempted to re-sync, but due to not being able to see the digit code on the face of my fitbit, I'm unable to do so.

Please advise on next steps.

Thanks!

Hi @jenjer_2, I'm glad to see you here and I'm sorry for the delay. @SunsetRunner, welcome on board.

@jenjer_2, you're welcome and hope I can see you on track soon. In case you have some spare time, I’d like to invite you to visit our Discussion Board where you will find great tips and encouragement from other members.

@SunsetRunner, thanks for letting me know that your Charge 3 is having the same behavior. You did a good job with the restart process and just to confirm, have you also try changing the clock face and performing a long restart which is different from the regular restart? If not, please given them a try as they worked for other users.

Let me know how everything goes!

It seems as though the line issue is a common problem. I have tried all of the troubleshooting suggestions. My problem had been getting worse over time. Any other suggestions?

There is obviously a hardware problem. I would suspect water getting in. No amount of restarts and changing clock faces is going to make any difference.

My first one was replaced, second one is starting to show the same so I’m not even waiting till it gets worse - it’s getting changed now. Unfortunately, Fitbit issue reconditioned items for replacements so even if the problem has been rectified in later models, until they work their way through all the old models, this will continue to happen. I believe we should be issued with NEW models when this happens, but Fitbit would appear to rather have many people suffering the same problem. Maybe they think we won’t complain?

I’ve just sent my second one back - waiting for 3rd! But as replacements are reconditioned I’m not holding out much hope!

I am having the same issues with black lines on my display.  I have restarted several times. I have even let my Charge 3 die once to see if that would work.  Please help.

My Charge 3 that I got in January started showing lines earlier today and then just vibrated and switched screens rapidly and continuously. Now it's just showing a straight white line with two vertical black lines near the top.

It will not respond to any restart efforts.

Hi Alejandro, mine also has several lines going vertically from the top to the bottom of the entire middle section of the screen as well. I have reset/restarted it several times to no avail. Due to comments I have read about issues getting it wet, i have never used it in water. I have not showered or swam with it at all. Can you assist?

I restarted it and it now has the fitbit logo (the dots are lighting up in various ways) and the number 001, with both vertical and horizontal gray and black lines on the screen.

It does not respond to any other efforts.
