Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

Are you certain it’s a new one? You can check the details of registration in the settings. I have a replacement now but I can’t change some of the settings, like about of steps etc. Pain in the bum! 😣

Fitbit has usually replaced with a refurbished one. You would have to sync
the current one with the app, then edit it in the app. If that doesn't work
it's back to Fitbit CS. Good luck

Thanks. Fwiw Fitbit is saying that it's a new Charge 3, I have no reason to disbelieve that.

I wouldn't think they would lie.. If they gave you a new one I would ask if
the warranty is reset. Apparently, people who got a refurbished one
remained under the original warranty. I wish you better luck with the new
one.

You will have to contact Fitbit customer service. If it is in warranty,
they will probably replace it with a refurbished unit. I am sorry yours
went bad. Good luck.

Charge 3's are notorious for that. And yet the big fix they are talking
about with the 4's is adding GPS. Fix the lines for crying out loud. If you
are on a new warranty they will replace it if it is new enough they might
replace with new, but most of the people I see get refurbished units and
end up in the same place. Good luck

glad it is.

So, I got my replacement in the mail today seemingly not from Fitbit but from some other company. Not the entire watch in a box with strap but just the head unit. Which is fine. But it came in a cardboard envelope which wasn't bubble-wrapped. Fitbit, I know your trackers are tough but please get whoever to send a replacement in better protective packaging.

That's my only complaint.

I work with a dude that collects Omega and other watches. A Fitbit isn't that kind of watch or tracker. For the price I don't think that it'll be close to bulletproof. According to my dude friend the expensive ones aren't necessarily bulletproof either.

The functionality of my Charge 3 is fantastic though, especially for the price. It's helped me tremendously. Which is not to say that failures of devices aren't frustrating. They are very frustrating.

Anyways in these trying times y'all take care. Exercise and stay well and don't be tense. Ciao.

I have tried the fix suggested for the display problem I have but now the display is just black. Is there anything else I can try?

Contact them and get a replacement. Seems there is something wrong with these ones.
Hopefully still in guarantee

It could be that the display is set to dimmest which is pretty much invisible. (Not sure why they have it possible to go that low).

Be sure it’s fully charged and do a hard reset as they describe and it should come back to Medium bright (you’ll have to push the appropriate buttons blindly though).

This worked once for me to bring up brightness but doesn’t now.

Best regards,

Ted

Unfortunately, no. Your recourse is to contact CS. They will have you try
an extended restart which probably won't work. If it is in warranty, they
will replace it, probably with a refurbished one which may have the same
issue. If you are out of warranty they may offer you a discount and try to
upsell you. Those have been The options. I wish you luck.

Tried few times. Nope... 13 months makes it a no go. Do NOT want to invest that much in another unreliable device (it was my second Fitbit).

Glad you were more lucky.

I hear you. I went down a model and went to another vendor where I could
use rewards points, so I didn't spend a lot on it. They are too expensive
to be replacing every year or so. If this one craps out, I will be done
with Fitbit

My Charge3 also started showing the black lines in the display today (2 of them so far).  I tried the suggested restart and they are still there.  I purchased mine November 2019.

You should still be in warranty, so it should be replaced. Unfortunately,
the odds are that it will be replaced with a refurbished unit which may
have the same issue. Otherwise you may be offered a special rate on an
upsell. Good luck
