Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

Well I cannot fault their replacement policy on this occasion. I got an option for a replacement or 50% off an upgrade.

If the original charge3 had lasted then I would consider an upgrade but I can't justify it when the first product lasted 7 months.

They will get my repeat business if the replacement I am sent doesn't  go faulty.

Thoughts, whilst annoying this thread would be a lot longer if this was a universal issue so I hope my replacement doesnt have the same problem.

It may not be universal, but it is disturbingly frequent and common

Can't argue with that, especially those who have had the issue multiple times on replacement devices.

I have the same problem. It just started today. 3 horizontal bands near the top 1/3 of the display. Resetting it did nothing. That, combined with the fact that it's a constant battle to sync it makes me wonder if I made a mistake in purchasing it. I've only had it a few months and it's been a disappointment.

The short answer on the 3 is yes, it was a mistake. Customer service should
replace it. If it has only been a few months they should replace with new.
Warranty will not be extended either way. Good luck.

Hi I have the same issue. Please can you contact me to resolve this. I got mine for Christmas so it's only 6 months old.. thank you

If you have an issue I suggest you contact them directly. This is community and whilst they might see your issue and get in touch it's not a customer services page.

They were very nice. I sent them a picture. They got me to go through some checks on the phone (they have a script to follow which is not their fault and confirms everything that might fix it has been done so be patient).

Good luck

Unfortunately your unit is done. You will have to contact customer service.
If it is in warranty, they will replace it. If it is not in warranty, they
may offer a discount on a replacement. Good luck.

Hi Carol

If under warranty call and ask for an exchange. Otherwise you are out of luck. This seems to be a serious ongoing issue.

Cheers and stay safe!

My Fitbit Charge 3 is doing the same thing. I reset it with no change. It is only 5 months old. See photo.

Contact customer services. They will talk you through a couple of resets but if they don’t work they will replace the unit.

They are replacing it. You’d think a mature product would have these issues resolved already?

I seem to be having the same issue but my screen appears to be much worse and sometimes shows a large ! On the screen. I have contacted fitbit support a month or two ago and tried to restart process twice with no luck. I have had Fitbits since 2014 with no issues, only buy a new one when I want to upgrade. Is there anything that can be done to save this fitbit since its not that old?

Thank you,

You would think so but hopefully the next one will be better.

My experience with Customer Support was good and they replaced my unit without issue. If yours is in warranty then I would assume they will do likewise.

Happy for you that yours is getting replaced, but the next time it fails and your original warranty is up you'll get a BS offer to spend more money on the same **ahem**, not the new improved Charge 4
