Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

Your online option with Fitbit is to contact Customer service. If your unit
is still in warranty they may offer to replace, quite possibly with a
refurbished one, no reset on the warranty. If it is out of warranty, they
may offer a discount on another. Good luck

I got my first Fitbit Charge 3 last August, by winter I was having all the same problems that are listed on this thread (dead pixels, not syncing) so, I contacted customer support and after going through their “troubleshooting” which of course didn’t work, they sent me a new one. Now my replacement Charge 3 is having the exact same problems (with the added problem of no longer tracking my heart rate) and so I suppose I can call again and ask for a replacement but it just seems like such a waste. This is SO clearly a faulty product, I am not sure it even worth my effort. Has anyone had any luck with a different fitness tracker - I don’t care what brand it is, I just want it to be guaranteed to work for more than 4 months at a time!! I am sorry to be asking for recommendations for a different brand on the Fitbit website, but if you are going to sell a faulty product, I guess that’s what will happen.

I don't know. I left Garmin because the seal on the battery broke. When my
charge 3 went bad, I went down to the Inspire HR just before Christmas. So
far, so good.

Hi,

I recently bought the fitbit charge 3 about 3 weeks back and am facing issues with the black lines. The restart (8 sec) and the long restart (15 sec) does not seem to fix the issue. I also tried changing the clock face with no luck. Any help to resolve this would be appreciated.

If you registered it then contact customer service and ask for a new
replacement(not a refurbished one). If it was new when you bought it, they
should take care of it easily. Good luck.

Bad news... There is no fix. It’s a manufacturer’s defect that affects hundreds of units at least. (I’ve heard from about 200 so far in reply to this post with similar or worse issues. (My display for example is only randomly visible but I can sync it to my phone to see the step count - useless as a watch.)

Ask for a refund or replacement as soon as possible!!!

You may be offered an exchange under warranty but there’s no support at all after that! You may get a refurbished unit in exchange but no warranty extension.

Go for a refund if at all possible and chose something else.

Cheers and stay safe!

To be honest if you still have the receipt I would return it where you purchased it from and get a full refund.

This seems to be a common problem with the charge 3. Get your money back and buy a different model!

I had 3charge 3's in 10 months. I'm so disappointed that I was never offered full value of my expenditure by Fitbit merely 50% to upgrade to a versa.

I decided to upgrade to the Versa2 - I just didn't want to deal with the
dead pixels on my 3rd Charge 3 in one year. Call customer support and ask
for a new one, but it sounds like this is a problem with all Charge 3s.

I had received my as a gift last August, so rather than get my 3rd Charge
3 device within the year, I just took the option to buy a Versa 2 at 50%
off. Hopefully the Versa2 will work well! 🤞

I now have enough dead black lines on my charge 3 that I can’t read the screen anymore. Restarted as you described several times. No impact.

Unfortunately it has shown itself to be a common problem with the Charge 3.
You can try working with customer service for a remedy. They will most
likely offer a discount on a different model. I have had good luck with the
inspire line, I wasn't trusting enough to move up. Good luck with whatever
you decide.
