Charge 3 display corrupted

My Charge 3, which is about 6 weeks old has developed a dead horizontal line about 1/5 of the way down the screen. It's like a dead pixel, but extends right across the screen and always remains black. It's not too much of a problem; info is still easy to read, but it's clearly a fault and may get worse. I intend to return it for an exchange, but am posting to let other users know about this issue.

I contacted customer service and fortunately I was under warranty so they are just sending a new one.  I wonder how much this firmware update is costing Fitbit?

It's a fairly common problem with the 3, so it's hard to say. Many have
been replaced with refurbs that show the same issue after a while, so make
of it what you will. Better luck with the new one.

Yes - this one is the one they replaced for me - so the second one I’ve had and the display went bad in less than a year. I don’t swim and I try to take care of it. It’s a real shame because I like the data it collects.

I liked mine as well. When mine went out I was out of warranty, so the best
they would do is give a discount on another product. I went down to inspire
and have had no trouble. I wasn't willing to spend as much or more to have
the same thing happen to another unit. See what customer service is willing
to do for you. Good luck.

Hi Guys

I am now on my 3rd fitbit that has done this, eventually the blank line becomes more of an issue as more appear and the screen goes grey.

If this 3rd fitbit fails, how can i go about and get a different one, perhaps the charge 4.

Had a charge 2 before for over 2 years and only changed when the battery failed

You are more patient than I was. I changed lines after my first 3 went bad.
You will have to contact customer service and they may offer a discount on
a new unit. That was my experience. Good luck.

Based on your record I certainly wouldn’t say FitBit should be a consideration!

There are plenty of cheaper options out there... maybe they don’t have this great complaint forum, but it depends what you want the product for...

They offered me a 50% off a different model.

However as its only 8 months into 2 years warranty and therefore i dont feel i should be paying anything additional, to get a fitbit that works.

I Could understand if i was going to another e.g. ionic / versa etc.

But for a newer version of the Charge (which from this forum has a major known issue), is beyond me why after 2 faulty units a upgrade wouldnt be supplied

Yeah - this IS the replacement they sent after the first one went bad. So I might just lump it for now. I don’t want the Charge 4 because of the battery issue.

Fitbit doesnt care, even knowing this product is defective !! I have same on my 3rd one as well !!
They should replace every FB Charge 3 that has failed with a new Charge 4 !!

Yeah, I now have 2 lines across my screen which started showing up after this last firmware update.

Perform last rights and contact customer service.

The display on my Charge 3 is incomplete, has lots of black lines across it.  I restarted it by depressing the button for 8 seconds and got a nice smile back, but no fix.

Yup, that's what they do !
So this unit may last about 7 months with a replacement within a year !! After that your SOL !!

My Charge 3 which is about a year old developed one dead line few weeks ago, now it has 3 of them. Tried your suggestion of restarting but didn't work!

Please help!

Thanks!

If an extended start doesn't help, then your unit is done and you will have
to see what customer service will do for you.

I'm sorry to tell you this but there is no help available.  It will keep getting worse until the screen is out completely.  The only option you have it to contact customer service.  Good luck!

I still have the 2 lines running through the top 1/5 of my screen after the reset.  I saw the smiley face so I know it reset.  What would you recommend now?
